I like the proportions of the face a lot. The weapon is interesting to me, but at the moment it seems a bit tacked on if you could make it come more seamlessly out of his body i think it could allow for some interesting developments to the whole piece. also i know its rough but even for simplistic his gear is a bit basic get into the character make up a personality for him to define his gear. looking forward to the development here i think you have a good idea, also since its crystals the contrast between the light shining through the crystals, the crystal color, and his skin color could make for some beautiful renders. good luck!
2woogity: thx for the comments, that was the main idea to have very contrast material presented for the char and not to go in tons of small details. As to the weapon - you are right, I actually plan to do something more suitable

2conte: thx for the comment! Surely crystals will be much better formed on the model with hard edges and more precise lighting. For this concept my aim was to study concept art abit and get some basics done, like lighting/shading to show the depth of the character...

Mainly worked on design of the weapon and it seems much better now.
Basically next step is get it all colored and scetch the back view.
