Gamedev: It's hovering around 10,5k. It's too much I know but this was a portfolio piece more than a FPV piece so I didn't optimise the right side all that much and kept things like the bolt carrier and hollow delta ring etc. It was done in about 6 "working" days total but I've been working on it on and off for about 2 months. The HP took about 3 days, LP took a day to make and unwrap then texturing took about 2 days (It would have gone quicker if my PC could actually load 2048 sized maps without turning to treacle)
looking very nice, the one little complaint I have is that for how nice and detailed that piece is the holes for the flash guard look like they were cut into the low-poly after you did all the normal mapping and texturing.
The wear that's visible in some of the shots on the receiver looks really nice, I wish it was a little more prominent from other angles because it really breaks up the texture on the left side.
Very nicely done though, great attention to detail.
Sandbag: In a way that's what happened. Max wasn't baking the flash hider correctly at all so I ended up trying to paint out all the errors but there were just too many. My main aim for the textures was to achieve a greasy/dirty feel, the wear on the edges was a late addition since I'm still trying to learn what works well with dynamic shading and thus may have held back a little too much. My main fear was to have every edge worn down as I've seen on alot of textures (and also waiting for 10 minutes for a PSD to load kinda hurts too ).
