Wow. Digging where you're going with these. They're all great, but I particularly like the surrealness of the last one. The second is pretty amazing too.
3 more today. Drawn during lunch time & slacking minutes
This one explores a Chimera idea:
This one use the same upper, change the body. The hands are supposed to be in blessing gesture, but somehow look funny ^^; :
This one is... some kind of lobster-scorpion monster :
Thanks a lot for the vote guys ^^
So far i personally like the 5th & 8th design, but will try to evolve it or mix n match it with other body parts variation.
Hopefully i can get the basic shape nailed by the endof this week.
Dude I like the scorpion! That thing is creepy!
But! try not to be too overwhelming with details.. i think it can be a bit much visually and you can lose the "character" if it's too busy.
Love em all babe. The 3 headed dog is nice, I like the idea of the original projecting a mutant version of itself out.
The one below it is interesting, it looks like a couple of spirits melted together, and you can't tell who's leading. The build is a bit frail though and it doesn't seem like it can do a lot with those scythes.
Chimera thing has interesting feathers. It almost looks beautiful then you get to the face, which is pretty fearsome looking. The glow around the head is a nice touch.
The multihanded thing is a nice combination parts. Again, love the face, it looks really intellgient. I like what's happening down the torso too, it's almost cage like.
The Scorpion's a bit confusing from that sketch, but it gets interseting once you spot the human like thing belly crawling beneath it.
From the new thumbnails, 2 and 5 do it for me. Your ideas are off the hook! So hard to choose one!
Thanks for the feedback.
Kamui, i'm making smaller sketches, less details to get the shapes faster now. I realize i gribbled too much. Thanks for the observation.
Snowfly: i can't decide which one i want to develop yet. I guess i'll make as much shapes as possible until sunday. Then monday i'll decide.
So much good stuff here. But it all really hinges on what direction you want to go with your character.
9, 12, 16, 23, 28 and 29 would make good 'the muscle' abominations with more powerful body parts that don't rely on magic.
sheesh, and some good ones for magic are quite apparent. 14, 21, 25, 26 and 30 would make excellent leaders or prince/princesses.
Yay now we're talking! I'd go with whichever would make the most impressive final picture
If I had to pick 3, those would be the very first one (nice demon bait!), 27 (huuuuge abomination), and 25 if something recognizably human were stuck in there. Even 11 could be good with the right framing. But you're still brainstorming, damn!
I'm amazed at the level of detail you're able to put into even the smaller thumbnails-- your work has a very crisp, illustrative quality. I'm also impressed by the fact that you've managed to avoid most demonic tropes with a majority of your designs so far.
Now, before I start sounding like a fanboy, my main crit is that if you look at your designs they're almost all bilaterally symmetrical. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I think there's definitely some more room to explore, maybe by playing around with complete asymmetry or even something that's radially symmetrical.
But jeez, great start. Keep up the steam on this one and you'll be done a month early, heheheh.
Thanks again for the crits & comments guys
I'm thinking to fuse something human-like with the demon abomination. It will be something like this. Still designing the creature & the type og infusion though, so this is only an example.
And the 1st design of the human-like figure (plus a bit of history):
The idea for this is actually from Pied Piper legend.
Here's beta version of the final design. Might need to change the hue to be more greenish though... and i don't know yet where to put the green tooth ^^;
Ouch, dude, too much awesomeness... I'm overdosing...
Not much to critique, overall really amazing. The only thing I'm thinking is that right now the Demon Princess seems to be getting a little lost in all the awesome, and you can't really tell that she's still got the instrument on her (I only know that's what it is from earlier designs) Not sure how exactly to fix the problem, perhaps just have colours and brightness really contrast around her? The set-up for focal point is working fine, though.
Also... maybe the greentooth can go on the chains/harness of the creatures?
Thanks a bunch for the crits Mezz Yeah i realize that the human figure look very small. But i imagined the thing she's on is a monstrosity that hovers over a battlefield... so i think i will play around with brightness & contrast in the final piece. make her more outstanding
Btw, tried to fuse the 2 smaller creatures in the bigger body as limbs instead of being harnessed by a chain:
Yeah, love the artstyle and originality but as it is now it`s incredibly hard to read. My eyes are getting spasma-attacks trying to figure out what`s what.
Which is cool in away...
effing awesome design sense and concept! I'm not sure how to pull it off without wrecking the overall design qualities, but some depth of field would help immensely. You might also want to pick a focal point -- I didn't even realize there was a human figure int here until I read one of the posts! Some large areas of broad shapes might be cool to rest the eyes.
Seriously -- kudos on the concept. Very rarely do you find someone ballsy enough to go out on a limb style wise like this.
I love how this is turning out babe. I kind of miss the leopard print and stocking like patterns, I thought they made her look like a disposed of human being, instead of just straight up demon. But I guess that can wait til all of the design is blocked in.
The bladed tail is a nice idea, I can definitely picture that thing in action. It could be a bit sturdier around towards the tip to make it look really deadly. Keep going! ;-)
Thanks for the feedback everybody ^^.
I'm working so slow here. -__-;;
Ok, so the update: Side view, broken down into several parts. I think the design is more or less final. Hopefully only needs to make some small adjustments for final composition.
Snowfly babe: Yeah, the patterns must wait later. For now, i'm focusing more to the main shapes. It'll still have the leopard print i think
I like parts of the idea so far, I'm worried though, that your concept is too large, and lacks a center of interest. The demonic character has lost the viewer's attention, instead seeing all the other elements you've got in your design. I like the idea of having a musical instrument (a lot actually), I'm just afraid that once this is all said and done, you won't be able to find the lady in all the demony bits. Also, I'm thinking that you're going to be very constrained by the poly-count. Sorry if I sound harsh, I'm not trying to be, it'd just be sad to get halfway through and then not have time to finish/push the detail that you really want to.
She reminds me of the Queen of Ultima picture, which is a good thing
Some very inventive and imaginative ideas in here, the way some are designed make them almost textile-like in some ways. The latest development, you can look at a single part and it becomes a totally different object, whereas if you look at it as a whole it fits together beautifully to create an intricate amalgamated form.
I do feel that Drywall is correct in some respects. There's so much too the design, when it comes down to composition I would find it very hard to get right. It's very busy and hard to find a focal point from the current sketches, however, values and colour would probably be the best remedy for this. Poly count isn't an issue with 2d :P
hahah gawd I'm dumb, I shoulda seen the "2d." I still think it'll be hard to find the center of interest, but as a 2D ENTRY (Drywall), I think it stands much stronger.
Nice I love how loud it looks, and the 8-eyed face staring her down is a creepy touch. You should definitely make that thing frame her in the final comp. Can't wait to see how you pull it off!

! must have hot monkey love!...! must grab angel booty! !
I really dig the first one.
2 and 5 look awesome
keep it up
Like the bottom one best, seems to have the coolest concept, but they all like good to me!
lol #3 with the "help me!" sells me on it too
the last is just pure craziness. should try to evolve this one too.

So will try it the other way around =P.
Don't like that much 11,13,15,27,28
