First year I will be entering. I don't have a job anymore so I should have plenty of time lol. Anyway I am leaning heavily towards some kind of demon. Probably in the Prince class, so I did a quick sculpt in Zbrush that took about an hour just to get in the mood.

I liked where this fella was goin so I have continued on. I will do thumbs for the clothes/armor/etc but I like to freestyle the organic parts..

Nice start - but it's not exactly pushing the boundaries of demonyness - an ugly muscled man with horns. Why don't you do a few pant overs and see how far you can take it?

Yea I was thinking more interesting horns for one. I was also planning on giving him a pet of some sort. You are right though I have rushed into it a bit. I will take a step back and do some paintovers

It would be so killer if you adorned this fella in some crazy outfit: leathers, robes, (spawn cape?) or something. Iam not feeling armor on this dude, but Just some awesome drapery would be cool to counter his organic nudyness.:poly139:

It looks really nice, but you need to develop something more than this, concept-wise. Like i said, its not bad but nothing that really stands out. Like they said, push it. Push it past anything that makes sense and make something out of it

Ditto on the last two remarks. It needs some other elements to bring it up to dominance war level.
Holes in his form or silhouette, some kind of crazy mouths on his shoulders, or in his belly with fire, or void energy pouring forth or spiraling in, skin hanging off the bones, just some weird and crazy element that's cool to look at, and changes this from a generic demon, to a leading character, final boss guy demon.
The sculpting and style is solid, so you've got the ability to push to it. So let's see something even more awesome!

Thanks for the critiques guys. I am trying to figure out what I can do to make it stand out a lot more. I agree that what I have done is a bit boring. I am thinking of giving him a pet/summon that will make it more unique.
Here is an update...it looks a bit mechanical in this shot but the tubes would be snakes if I continue with this idea

Looking great, only thing bothering me is the horns seem to be glued to the sides of his head. Try and make them look like they erupt through the skin and show the supporting bone structure beneath the skin.

Better on the horns. One thing is bugging me about this, it looks like you have got into the small details before getting the larger underlying structure defined. A lot of your detail is relying on that tendon look, which at first looks good but as soon as I start looking for the details it starts looking very flat. The face is great but the body needs more depth to the muscles and forms, particularly the abbs and bottom of the chest. It almost looks like he is wearing a latex muscle suit. Be a little more bold with the shapes and this will turn out awesome.

Cool stuff! I really like the skin in the head/torso area, really great look to it.

Crits:
- Snakes aren't necessarily one constant thickness but it depends on the type of snake I guess.
- The material on the snakes needs work. The pattern is kind of weird, maybe use the ring pattern on those orange/white snakes but with different colors?
- Big gap between the shoulder and the upper bicep armor piece.
- The pixel density on the legs looks kind of low? Maybe just needs more chest/head detail?

would be cool to see it with better lighting, the yellow stuff in the nose looks wierd is it a bull ring? or is it some snot or something?

I havent been able to decide if I wanted to have the snakes be alive or if I wanted them to just be part of the armor. So I kind of just threw a pattern on them to see what it would look like if they were real.
I have just been using zbrush to pose them which is why I keep getting the gap in the shoulder because I havent actually painted weights. I will have to see if I can get around that because I would rather not rig if I dont have to

And the thing in his nose is a bull ring, I will have to work on that to make it more clear
