ok UPDATE time.few thumbs.
gona go with 1 and probably add extra arms that are in 1B so both of em i guess. and the second image is the face itself. something along those lines.
I used Alchemy for these. it works great
also i'l do one more thumb or so, try to see how it will look with 2 feet.

as far as the design goes, i want it to be more protective and defense more than anything, like a tank bulky type, thus having the shell cover his back and part of his head. i'l research some reference on what i can incorporate in the shell design itself(maybe have some parasites living on the back so when provoked they attack and infect).yes i know it kinda looks like a crab with the legs but thats what i intended. i'l try adding some more isopod theme into him.
now i know its not original because i seen a few of these types in last years war but thats fine with me.
also not sure on what weapon and gear/armor im gona go with so we shall see.
anyway its gona have to wait till after the 30th(freelance work)
oh and C&C is highly encouraged and/or any paintovers! god knows i need it.

ok so small thumbnail update. different take on the creature, but im gona stick with the original idea concept. maybe i'l do some thumbnails for the big guy's parasites that will acompany him. after that, its time to move onto the 3D model

had some time. bunch of different head sketches. i dont think i'l take them further than this.
probably do some more, then start modeling the whole thing.

Cool dude, I wanna see the weapon. The area between the carapace back and the body could do with some more sculpting imo. That is unless you have a plan for that area via the texture.

well got it into marmoset, working on the spec now and weapon, tryin to give it that slimey feeling on some parts, altho its probably too much on these tests. other than the body, everything else doesnt have a spec map, just one color.
shotgun,gav,ged: cheers guys! i'l test out the hard orange on the darkest area later tomorro. For the back shell, the only slimey parts are gona be the inbetween skin thats stretching/dark areas. earlier test was all over.

hey there sir, the colors you have right now are completely rockin, as are the forms. i feel like he could use some sort of texture detailing on the softer surfaces he has there.
new speculars looking great, the normals on the staff look a bit odd, are they displaying right? or maybe its a smoothing issue? dunno if I agree on shotguns head paintover but its a rough idea I guess.

i think - woogity - that u r confusing my pic with his post -- it was me who (accidentally) added that 'bathed' light. you mentioning that made me realize i did that (subconsciously) because of that purple specular he had. Which made me realize why i wanted that yellow/orange stuff there -- to compliment the purple...
...which i guess is a matter of taste.

first picture is his head gear. its not gona be that flat, just blocking it out right now
well here is an update. tried going with a different head. scraping it for the old one. not feeling it so far.reminds me of the predator haha
