Hey guys, new here but pledging my alliance to polycount for the dominance war.

Little burned out on school atm but i'll be doing some concept work for a construct type monster in the near future. Lookin' forward to seeing everyone's work.

Did some really quick concepting today. He went from being a wacky dude on a single tire (wanted to save tris) to being a full walking robot. Any resemblance to a pirate is entirely intentional. I think he's 1/3 robot, 1/3 pirate, 1/3 t rex (note the stumpy arms and jaw). Hopefully i can save enough tris on his small limbs to really do some cool techy stuff on his upper body. Anyway, i know it's unconventional, but it should be fun! I'd spend more time on the 2d stuff but this is going to be 3d and i'm feeling lazy right now.

If you guys think this is too wacky to be a serious contender let me know ! Thanks in advance for all crits, they are appreciated.

Quick little update. Testing some geometric layouts. Just some simple shapes with a couple meshsmooths below. But i am stoked with how easily his face came out. Just wacky and robotic enough. Kinda diggin' that my dude's one of the few cartoony robots. I'm probably shooting myself in the foot with this one but i may decide to go more "serious" in an alternate build if i so decide.

How detailed i go with the polys is up in the air. I really like this guys personality and i don't want an overly complex body to deter from his face, which i'm hoping will be really goofy in a good way.

Anyway, surprised how quickly this is coming together considering the time invested so far. Could really ramp up any day now really.

And hey, if anyone wants to comment, smack me up side the head and tell me i'm retarded for doing this kind of robot, now would be the time!

I think you need to elaborate your concepts more, I like the shapes you got going on but they don't make much sense. If you can show that off a little bit more and tell what the pieces do for this robot it would help your design much more.
