    I left a sheet of paper next to my bed last knight and woke up in the morning with this little masterpiece waiting!

    Im thinking: Demon Lord with death related powers.

    In case anyone is having trouble following my stunning concept work, thats a big rock pillar that its standing on. The triangle shaped things are big metalic/chitlin claw/nail/head things. They are connected to the body by tentacle things. Ive got some nice pictures of naked mole rats to use as reference for the body and arm skin. The three spines on the top are some sort of crystals maybe? The legs are four legs based off of a crab or spider ish design. Greentooth will be branded into the skin on the body somewhere.

    If I have enough polygons and texture space left over Id like to add a couple of agents/pets/servants as well.

    Maybe you should try doing some concepts during waking hours because i can hardly make out what it's supposed to be and the idea sounds flimsy. There's enough time to think it over. I bet you can come up with something much cooler and readable.

    Well Im stumped. I tossed that concept and spent the day working on something new. Now I have a big stack of papers,dozens of alchemy doodles, a handful of photo manips, and hundreds of reference/inspration pictures saved...all crap. Im not sure if its just that the available topics are so wide open or if Im setting my standards too high, but Ive tied my mind into a knot before even deciding on a concept for my concept.

    Going to get some sleep. Maybe things will look better in the morning.

    No more sleep drawing, I promise.

    Finally got an hours to work on this again. Played around with some blobs of prim and came out with a couple heads and a body. I put myself on a time limit of 15 minutes each so they are pretty rough.

    Well, the second one seems like the strongest choice at this point although your guy on the end could be kind of interesting with some development. The Spidery legs don't do much for me (and every second entry has them this year) but the hippo-like appearance of the rest could be an interesting direction to consider.

    Reworked him a bit at much lower rez but with more major details fleshed out.

    Switched out for head number two and changed the crab legs into regular boot feet in the front and some alien cat paws in the back. I kind like the crab legs tho, so I moved a set onto his back.

    Got a little bit of sculpting done. Right now Im working on his armor/attachments (waiting on additional body details till after thats done). Im thinking about hanging some sort of platform from the top arms, hooking up reigns from the head piece and giving him a rider. Not sure about that yet, Ill see how the poly budget looks after hes fully decked out.

    I know the materials on here are uggly, but they are only there to provide some contrast between major body elements. Next time I get a chance to work on him Ill probably do a quick unwarap on the highpoly so I can paint some mockup color schemes.

    You might want to go back and hit more of the conceptualizing stage. Further flesh out your entry, think about the kinetics of how it will move realistically, etc. Right now your guy's anatomy would have him walking really weird with that set up.

    The rear legs arnt for walking. They are for shoving himself forward/anchoring himself in place during battle. When walking they fold up half way and a large metal plate on his chest (part of the equipment still to be added) acts as a counter balance.

    Here is a picture of him with the rear legs folded up in walking configuration and some placeholders for weapons and armor. Hes not going to be particularly nimble, but thats not the idea. It looks to me like he can walk normally on two legs and only drop the rear legs to anchor in place or shove himself forward...but maybe Im simply not considering this objectively.

    Chopped off the second set of legs. It hurt, but it had to be done :(

    Youll notice he still bares scars from the amputation on his butt. Somehow they seem about as authentic a scar as a 3d model can get, so Im planning to keep them. :shifty:


    Equipment is pretty much fleshed out now, but hasnt really been detailed much at all. Beyond the equipment, he still looks a bit plain to me...like something is missing. If anyone has any ideas for that Id love to hear them.

    Anyway, Im probably going to be busy for the next day or two but after that Ill jump back in and finish this up. I really dont want to take much more time before calling the concept finished and moving on to the real thing.
