I don't mind at all! Thanks for doing that. I revised my concept a bit during lunch and I'll go back later on tonight to try it out with this head. I like a lot of the ideas you have there but it feels a little off to me for some reason. Whatever the case, I'm happy that I'm closer to finalizing my concept.
I just whacked the image on so the perspectives different of course, I'd probably loose or do something else with the grub tail too looking at it again.
Hey, I'm wondering if could get some suggestions. I've been making a few concepts and couldn't think of anything that great. I came across this idea below but it still seems that it needs something more.
Also I am not sure if it fits in a category. I originally thought it could be an invoker because in terms of the person on the machine whose magic energy would be the power source. I also thought it could be cyborg since the design includes both person and machine. However, I am not sure if thats allowed. Any clarification on this matter would be helpful.
Don't have time to make a full entry... plus I'm waaaay out of practice... but I thought I'd add something here. This is VERY rough... a rush job to get it up here...
I wanted to find a way to deconstruct greentooth into 2 parts and use him as 2 weapons. This is a quick sketch of 2 swords from 2 different cultures that happen to fit together to make greentooth(s)... If you like the idea or it inspires you... run with it!
I ve got a little request- if you guys have some references/images of heavy armors, especially gauntles I would appreciate any links or examples. Im googling around but I havent found much yet.
Cheers!

Not sure if this is what you're looking for but these guys made replica armors from the lord of the ring movies. There's a couple of pictures of some neat gauntlets.
kosh_fotsirk - Cool idea, I like it. If you're looking to improve it, first I'd say that the silhouette on the robot machine is looking a little plain. Try varying the shapes/proportion of the body parts a bit, see if you can get a cooler look.
Second, I definately think reference mechanical parts could help add a lot of really cool details. It doesn't necassarily matter what type of machine stuff you look at, just as long as you can find cool parts to draw in that look like they belong :P
Hard to say what category it falls in... I'm definately thinking it's a machine, but hard to say which. Couldn't it be the all-mechanical type (can't remember the name offhand) and the idea is that it's sucking the life out of a norm, showing its supremacy...? I think that would be allowed, unless anyone thinks otherwise?
MAUL0r - Hahah, cute, I like it.
InProgress - Can't remember what the initial concept was, but I have an incling it might have been better. This dude is amusing, but doesn't seem to have a lot going for him right now. Could probably use some more work.
-Wait, just remembering... was yours the one with the funny head and mutant body parts? Cause if I'm thinking of the right one, than I defiantely liked that one better.
Cheers Mezz. Yeah, my first draft was the one with the funny head and mutant body parts. As for work, it was a quick draft because I was too lazy to model. Will make some adjustments to make it hellish and more of a jester than a clown. it was an excuse to not model the head, which I don't know how to start modeling.
Okay, my thread seems to be virtually no man's land, so maybe I can get some help here.
My concept is a Daemon Prince who decides to try to infiltrate human society, disguised as a cheerleader - but he doesn't understand what it means to look human except for the ultimate basics - two arms, one torso, one head, boobs, etc.
I scrapped my original sketch, and made these thumbs... any feedback?
lol, Cheerleader Daemon :P I like it! #6 is completely reminding me of the other mother from Coraline, dunno if you've seen the movie, but really amazing visual experience. :P
Back on topic, for the idea of your character, #2 & 3 seem to be working best. I think I prefer #2, but both have the sorta "I'm a cheerleader, can't you tell??" look going on.
made this buddha statue this weekend, can i use it for a buhha-mech for the callange or doenst something startet within the timeline but not for dom war as purpose count?
uh, im pretty sure if you made it for something else but decide to use it (during the comp timeline), then you could. I mean, if I say- 'huh, I made this killer arm sculpt yesterday just for fun', and then used it in my entry, are the thought police going to come over and tell me I wasnt thinking about the comp when I made it? naah
Which would be a better decision? Zspheres or a base mesh? I've been having trouble with my max lately and figured it might save time to work with zspheres. I'm not sure though, everything I've read that talks about working in zbrush usually started with a base mesh...
Lots of people use ZSpheres...personally, I'd rather slap something together really quick in Max...even just a box man with equal divisions. For me, I think it's just because that's how I started a long time ago...but for some reason I feel like I have more control over what the mesh will do that way.
And once again we have the problem of the unwashed masses who aren't beginners, but not as good as the "Mastahs" getting ignored... no critiques or criticism. Does nobody like my final concept sketch? What could I do better while I still have time? Are you just waiting to see where I go with it? Or are my chances just so utterly unlikely that you guys just aren't bothering with it? I have to come in here to ask for help, because only three people have offered so far...
Whelp, I am having an issue figuring out how to attach the wings to this guy. I don't want to just stick them on and pretend they work by magic. I can't seem to figure out the supporting muscle structure. I have blocked in some forms on the back but have no idea where to go from here. Any help would be great.
I'd start by having a muscle 'feed in' to the lats, to work as the downward flap muscle. As to bone structure... well, perhaps they could be based on a secondary set of shoulderblades coming off the spine between or slightly below the 'normal' shoulder blades?
Hey Xaltar, here is one example I managed to find on the net that might help with your sculpt. It still seems kind of unrealistic but I think its pretty convinving. I also know there was someone on zbrush central who did an awesome sculpt of a vampire type creature that would be a perfect example, but I could not find it.
Valandar - Thanks dude, yeah, I was thinking of treating them like another set of arms with reguards to bone structure. I think I'll go with that. I guess I'll pull up a zsphere and mess with it untill I find a look that I like and seems plausable.
nrek - Thanks for the images. I really like the way the muscles flow at the top but the bottom is totaly unbelieveable. At least I have an idea for the top now I can also use that for some paintover ideas, should be quicker than a sculpt.
Could do with some ideas for this guy. Basically he's a demonic version of atlas, his power being darkness/death, and he throws the orb on his back into the middle of the battlefield where it opens to reveal a portal where beasties come out.
(I've not started on the orb yet, aiming to nail down the beastie first).
Maybe you could make him stoop more under the weight of the orb - almost like gollum and the ring - like it's a parasite without legs, that he is
controlled by?

could be cool if he had like a chain around it that functioned as a giant sling or something to help him throw it, the pose as is dosnt work for me, the orb is too far back to be supported by his core, and the arms arnt big enough to support that kind of mass at that angle.
I hit another snag on my way to learning Zbrush: sculpting in an elephant's leg skin folds and cuts. I downloaded some elephant skin alphas, however I don't actually know how to "paint" them on. Any ideas?
Ninjas:works fine for me, might wanna PM Fredh over at GA to fix your problems.
hopefully i can get some help here. im about to start coloring and i have no idea what kind of color scheme i should make. so any ideas/paintovers would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance

To select and use the alpha:
1.Click the alpha thumbnail (yours is probably empty)
2.Select import and browse to your alpha
3.Select the type of stroke you want to use it with, i usually pick "DragRec".
4.Ready to detail!
kosh_fotsirk - Right now your porportions are looking a little strange. Try working off some good reference, that should help. Also, it looks like a crazy amount of lines are going on in the middle of the face. Unless it's just then unseamed pieces? In which case, disregard. (Looks like the same thing is happening with the ear.)
Need some help with scene setup and interesting composition. My models are fully rigged so the sky is the limit. Taking any and all suggestions on my thread HERE.
Thanks!
Anybody got ideas on how to show that something has viscosity (a tentacle)? I saw thinking of some semi-transparency with an opacity map and a higher specularity for it. Other than that, I'm stumped.
Is it possible to use final gather and mentalray on the presentation piece?
You reccon i can build a small house with a well, road and a tree on my presentation base (they will only be small to show off the size of my gigant.
Any Maya users that know a thing or two about painting weights? If yes, and care to explain, go like I'm retarded, as apparently I can't follow the instructions from this here tut. CLICK
Belltann. any rendering solution is fine as far as i know.
i really have a hard time to compose my text images/background story.
the problem is .. my english sucks. my grammar/vocabulary/words of choice is lame.
the q is. is it okay to get a help from other participant for text image? is not like i tell other participant to paint my texture isn,t it?
in case of anyone interested of helping me "rewrite" my text image. i,ll post it here =P
I was wondering about the text image as well. Seems weird that they want an image for this and not an attached document? The example text image was kind of useless too
I guess they don't really care much about it? Idono. I'm going to write something up and put it into the format that the rest of my images are in.
Ok I have got something out of zbrush and applied it to my model - but it dosn't have the smoothness it should have with a normal map. I put it on the bump map as well as
the diffuse - any ideas what I am doing wrong??

Maybe it can inspire you some how. I mean what could be more inspiring than boobs that big. She might need some wheels or something.
Also had a quick go at Kosh's design. Not at all refined concept by any means, but maybe it'll give you some ideas.
