Hi there,
we are working on our school project about simulating evac from football stadium, we're using ogre3D for visualization, but we got some serious problems with perfomence. Currently we're simulating only 1/4 part of whole Wisla Krakow stadium and with about 2000 "people" 87tris each and with stadium base + chairs there's something like 1milion tris. And here comes the problem, we got only 20-25fps. So i'm worried about this when it comes to simulate whole stadium.
What can you suggest to optimize this, or maybe change the engine? What do you think about irrlicht?
As you can see we're not trying to make it beautiful, more important is perfomance.
Thanks in advance.
And sorry for my english

A small group of 87 tri people near the camera. Background mob in sprites.
what about engines? i've heard it's really slow in comparison to other open-source engines.
About animation we know that turning it off help alot and simple moving people around could do the job. What you about think about ogre3d vs horde vs irrlicht? have someone any experience with them?
