for example if you would look for the new render settings panel,- youd have to re-call that operation so hit at least twice F10 in that case. Or for the material editor at least twice m-key. So after that do you still suffer from the problem?
Make sure the window is highlighted for example launch the material editor then hit Alt-Space (universal window menu), then hit M (move, places your cursor at the top of the window), Click and drag the window back on the screen.
OR
If you have Ultramon installed it adds a “move window to other monitor” feature to the Alt-Space bar menu.
Activate the window
Alt + Space
Up arrow twice
Hit Enter and it should come back.
OR
Go searching through the 3dsmax.ini file for the word "position" and remove the coordinates of anything that is off screen.
Thanks guys for trying to help...sorry I wasn't near this PC at all yesterday. Back here again now though.
What if I just delete the .ini file completely? Lots of stuff seems to be going off screen. Will max just create a new one? I suppose my keyboard shortcuts are all saved in there too...
You can try it, I've personally never done it but seen it recommended a few times... Seems a bit like using a sledge hammer when screw driver would do, but worth a shot.
Probably back it up or move it instead. You could probably save your KB shortcuts by going to Customize > Customize UI > Keyboard Tab and click save, then load it back in after you reset the ini file (if you have to). Might want to do that for the other tabs as well.

Yep I gave this a try before posting and it does nothing. Like running a blank script.
ctrl+r
'select the maxscript file'
hit run
