Lets share our inspiration folders

I had the idea that we could all use some cross inspiration and I'm sure you guys have some really great stuff you have collected over the years, Ironically I have not started an inspiration folder until now so I have nothing to share but still wanted to bring the idea up and see what happens

What I can help with is a method of sharing.

First off you will need some type of archive tool you can get winrar from here http://rarlabs.com/download.htm

After that is installed you can just rightclick your folder and then select add to .rar

When that is done you will need a place to upload it.

If you dont have your own file host you can use http://www.filefront.com/ or something similar I recommend filefront due to the unlimited storage

Then just post the link here.

I hope to see some exchanges!

Vend3r, haha I think you would have better luck if you said, "hey I have this and this to share in case anyone else wants to share as well" Rather then basically saying, "hey I have been to lazy to get anything, and want to take all your hard work in finding reference and inspiration!" I for one will pass on doing any work for you:), but will share with my friends that already have:P

Ya, srsly, my inspiration folder is almost 10 gigs in size. Also, consider that there will be a lot of repeating pieces from everyone's folder, since we all probably gathered much of the same inspirational work.

Does the concept art for my own project count? The idea inspires the concept which inspires the art, which inspires the next idea, which leads off on a huge tangent. That's how we once went from asymmetrical genetic engineering, to brain-eating, soul-possessing spiders. And a whole new look for the husk/possessor.

And, as others have said, the file size is a bit too large to pack into a rar. And the fact that I am using glorified dial-up. Luckily, the medium of this madness has a Deviant art page. http://atothex.deviantart.com/

My ref folder is 65 gig in size, I aint gonna pack that shit up in rars. Its fun building up your own ref folder, just use google and categorize it well!

I Might take photography to another level.
Im thinking about building my own online ref database, bit 3dsk related, but then more art in the shots, bigger range of variation in everything. Im missing alot of things when i browse though those type of refs.

I would share my inspiration folders, but EarthQuake would become ragingly jealous when he didn't see his work in there. Better I just keep it all to my self.

well, ref, or . . . inspiration.

Most of us (of course not me though) run dry sometimes, and can't get started on something. Usually a quick glance through 3-10 gigs of inspirational art is enough to kickstart people's creativity (or kleptomania)

I totally have a inspiration folder. Actually I have a bunch of them. Like Tumer said, sometimes instead of digging online I just rapid click through a massive folder and it kind of helps get me excited to make something cool.

just a question for all:
what do you do if pictures fit well in two or more catagories.? happens especially on environment stuff...
tried some tools for tagging images , but everything took way too much time and had bad workflow. save the pictures in more then one folder seems stupid to me, too...

Not sure if it's ok to post these in this thread. Found them over at NeoGaf and to be pretty inspiring. They are colorized photos from America in the 30's and Nazi Germany in the 30's and 40's.
