question for bloom effect in max

ive been trying to learn how to achieve the bloom effect on the object (for example a oil lamp) in a dark atmosphere/room?
Any tips or tutorial links would be appreciated. Cuz im dying to learn how to do it.

For real time you can use this shader

Otherwise I'd go to the effects menu add a blur and set it to luminance then fiddle with the settings till you get the desired amount of bloom.
