Awesome work dude! I love the tangent space joke. Would be great to see some breakdown or wip images. And the only other thing I can say about it is that the legs of the robot seem to blend in with the rocks abit, some algae on the surface of the rock might help define the surface more. Again awesome job  .
Meet the Scheisswasser & Söhne U-Bot 7 Submerged Bipedal Weapon System, aka The Panzerwurst. Severely lacking agility on both land and in sea, this amphibious cast-iron guard dog represents the latest in obsolete military solutions. Guaranteed to sink like a stone or wander aimlessly around your docks firing resolutely in the general direction of possible threats or members of your staff, this hulking wreck is sure to have your enemies in laughing cramps as they load their RPGs - just add crude oil.
A personal project close to my heart, the Panzerwurst is another barely-functioning heap of junk that finally made it from sketchbook to portfolio. He's around 5800 triangles, plus gun, using 2048x2048 diffuse, specular and normals.
Very creative. I love heaping huniks of junk. your spec maps are looking good.
IMHO the cover is cool, but if you really want that amazing stories look, try a wide angle lens and make the top of the bot enlarged. it will be more dynamic plus show more detail. just a thought
aniceto: I'll see about posting some before/after shots later, but basically it's a few rain-overlays and the magazine cover stuff done in PS, on top of a pretty clean Max render with only some smoke, muzzle and muzzle glow effects.
adamBrome: Haha, thanks Yeah, you have a point I know, but I'm still pretty comfortable with having him this clean for some reason. Will continue to play around a bit though.
Great work as usual
Love the robot design and theme.
I can agree with Adam about the water damage and some of the other critique ppl posted I mean that`s what this forum is here for but hey, everyone have different opinions and if you try to please everyone all the time you`d never be able to move on. I`d rather see your next creation!
The turnaround really shows all the cool details that are not visible in the render. Love the ancor on his eeh, chest?... Once again, really interesting design and a breath of fresh air from the stereotypical game art. Would be cool with a series of these.
Thanks again everyone! I guess you're an alright bunch of whinos after all
bilbana: Thanks. The cool thing about quicktime is that you can step through movies frame-by-frame, which is good for scrutinizing things like this. Series you say? Did I mention I happily accept cold hard cash?
K... this is just fucking cool man, you've been one of my fav artists for a long time ramus, and this just puts you up even higher in the list of people I want to stalk and or mate with... awkward.
SOOOOO awesome- love the robot design, the barnacles are moss are a SUPER nice touch. I wish there was a tad more rust, and maybe some decals here n there- but sheeeeit I digress, awesome work man.
*saved to inspiration folder.
any chance you have the initial sketches uploaded?
This is steampunk-alicious. Great shapes and details and I love the blueprints as well. I think it'd be really cool to see some colour map variants - camouflage, brass with crudely painted decals etc.
Awesome stuff. I love the barnacles, but I think putting them in the normal map turned them into metal rivets or weird distortions. I really really like this. The blueprints are really great too.

My favorite thing about this piece are the wicked vicious isopods hahaha.

love this too much
whats_true: Only the isopods are Zbrushed. Oh and the rocks in the poster.
Codeman: Thanks, but I think I'm calling it done
oobersli: Thanks
Sectaurs: Haha, glad you like it
then +1 for me.
great job. sweet presentation too.
EDIT: kelvin, its weird isnt it. the isopods and the style of the cover. :0
I'm curious about what sort of work you did to get that atmosphere. both pre and post render
I'd actually try and sell it a bit more that he's a hunk of junk that plays in water. The bright green seaweed and lack of water damage is suspect.

SHEPEIRO: Yeah, something like that - nothing like creating bullshit German names for stuff
I put up a turnaround too btw:

Awesome job though man!

JasonLavoie: I think I'd need some kind of moustache-guarantee for our children.
Konstruct: Thanks. Just finished these
Really great work!
Pure gameart ingeniousness. I love every bolt on it!
Freuon: Tack mannen, glad you like
