Hello. As a university student, I'm going on Erasmus project (a European Union project for students mobility across diferent countries). Me and three more classmates are going to study a semester on Wroclaw medical school next year. We are going from October to March.
So, is there any polycounter that knows the city or better, lives on the city? We'll be there for a semester and want to plan the things right. Any information about the city, the Zlotys, places to say (if you know something about the university student residences, apartment costs), life cost, night life, security etc etc that would be very helpfull

Krakov isnt all that far away good skiing there I hear, Ive never tried it.. was just drunk there.
Your euros will go a long way in poland especially outside of the major cities. So there'll be plenty of food/drink. The food is very slavic, lots of meat (mainly pork based) sausages, hams and etc. things like pierogi dumplings are popular, I like the really traditional types of food like golonka, flacki and smalec is really good.
You should make your way to Lodz while you;re there its a huge student town and the bars are jammed full of polish hotties..
The polish are pretty friendly once you get used to thier ways. most of them have great stories to tell of the communist times and the transition to democracy. expect alot of pretty crude humour.

For got to mention, the pronounciation of their lettering is going to knock you a bit when asking for names of places and etc.

Thanks anyway rolfness. I've searching on the net. I saw a couple good ones, but I'm still afraid of renting something without seeing if before. I actually prefer the idea of the university residence even it has some not very nice conditions (one bathroom for each flood for example)... but for 80 euros a month, with internet, kitchen, bed cloths....
