well, I think I may have to see this now. At first I was pretty much ignoring this movie... but it looks like they may actually pull a decent movie out of their terminating ass this time around.
Terminator 3 was a joke, a pandering excuse to wring some extra dollars out of a proven franchise. It's only real redeeming value was the constant nods it made to its superior predecessors. You can't let a movie ride entirely on past success. The fans will go to see it, but no one will mistake it for a quality effort in the long run.
If this trailer is anything to go on, the direction they are taking this new movie in is way, way better. For starters, it isn't going to be re-cycling existing series conventions. The anticipated time-frame of the movie is rich with story possibilities. We can clearly tell that this is set during the war with the machines, but just as humaniform robots are beginning production. It is outlining the future origin of the terminator series of robots. The trailer shows them discovering a terminator which doesn't even know its a robot intially. There's some solid potential here for quality storytelling and character development.
I am also encouraged by early shots of Christian Bale's performance. When I first heard he was going to be put in this role, I thought it was a great idea. The fact that he is going to be able to use his own voice, and not have to resort to his Batman gargle, is even better.
i will admit, that deep down inside i am secretly hoping there is some weird run in with john connor and kyle reese. he HAS to send him back! HE HAS TO SEND HIM BACK DAMMIT!!!!!!!!
but i guess that is the problem with the sequel and the treequel... the first one made sense from a linear perspective as well as a deeper level of you can't change the future.... or did it? really, would john connor have been born and lead the resistance if reese didn't come back and screw, i mean save sarah connor? and if you go off the basis of reese being john's father no matter what, then the idea of the future never being able to be changed is true, but it can get effed up somehow when liquid t100's start poking peoples eyes out!
I'm not sure about the huge terminator design, but the rest of the trailer got me hyped up for the film again!
"Do you want me to trash your fuckign' lights?"
Anybody know if they are going to tie the tv show into the movie in any way? On one hand I think it might make it a bit cheezy, but on the other hand, Summer Glau is awfully hot when shes killing people.....
Matrix, Transformers, Old skool Terminator, Bad Boys....I get a hint of a little bit of everything. It looks like it's going to be a kick ass movie in it's own rights though.
looks pretty awesome. should be interesting to see the early beginnings of the war instead of the typical Cameron esque blue lit future always at night.
lets just all be honest, we all watched terminator for those gleaming little moments they showed the crazy future of robots killing everything in site......this is what.........60-130 minutes got pack full of robots fighting humans ! so thats like watching the first 5 minutes of terminators 1/2 30 times ? just imagine your seeing those first 5 minutes of awesome but only times 30, and then just picture batman at one point fighting the robots for extra value.
Indeed, this looks like it could be really cool. Looks like a pretty good year for some VFX action movies. Cool to see Nine Inch Nails on some pretty major movies recently.
Any movie with Christian Bale has me sold since I first saw American Psycho. T3 sucked, especially considering that T2 was one of my favorite movies for a really long time.
I'm really looking forward to this one!
seriously man, me and christian bale are Not done professionally. That trailer rocked. I can really do without the Arnold cameo it's supposed to have though.

This wouldn't have been anywhere near as cool with 'with-a teeth-a' playing over the top of it.
Haha, true that!

I think this movie is aptly titled, it looks like this might save what T3 tore down.
I'm really looking forward to this one!
I thought it was gonna be given the shitty Alien 4 Art-House treatment.
This looks absolutely amazing!
And made me re-realise how much I fucking love NIN.
(If you wanna hear a nuts version of that song, find the Live version on "All That Could Have Been")
I would hyperlink, but they blocked youtube here at the office:
