Well I just finished that action hero contest over at ZBrushCentral. What a nightmare. Not because of software or the subject matter, but because life love's to get in the way of things. Personal life -vs- computer time -vs- full-time job -vs- travelling out of town -vs- personal life, etc.
I'm now going to take this and make it low poly. The fire will most likely be planes and textures I think, but I sculpted it in ZBrush for the competition because I thought it would be a nice challenge. The images shown here I completed yesterday after the comp was finished. I didn't have time to put these in my final entry. I was out of town on business for the past 12 days and my computer decided to heat up and crash at least 3 -4 times the night the competition was closing. But I wanted to at least have something better to use later when I update/re-re-re-vamp my portfolio site. Plus, I need a solid female character in my folio.
So anyway, hope you guys like what you see. I'll start posting the low poly transfers this week. Click any of the images below to view a slightly higher res.
Very nicely done! I love the pose, did you model her in this position, or adjust after the fact? I like everything about it, except the mouth seems a little off some how. It's a really minor crit and it may just be my imagination but I figured I would mention it.
Looking forward to the low poly
Tumerboy, bounchfx: Thanks guys! Much appreciated!
BradMyers82: I modeled her all in ZBrush in a bind pose. For the competition you had to display use of their Transpose tools and record your progress. The overall basis for the comp was to promote the exclusive use of ZBrush for modeling and character work (concept sculpt, Re-Topo tools, transpose, polypaint, etc.) as well as the ability to create a sense of action using transpose master. Basically a way of promoting their product with a competition. I did have a lot of problems with using only ZBrush, especially after posing my model. Some verts would always get out of wack, and I had to retopo the model twice. So the lips went through about 3-4 phases before I settled on these. I liked the way I had them before my last adjustment to be honest, but I wanted to maintain a stylized sense to the model.
Here's a screengrab of the bind pose in ZBrush with poly paint and early versions of the hair. Post-image, I made other adjustments to the legs and hands.

I definitely have to speed up my pace on Z brush.
