Zbrush Maya workflow - how to correct subtool gaps

Ok, this may be a newbie question since Zbrush is new for me, but I just finished a model in Maya and exported the obj files of the various body parts. When I import into Zbrush I get gaps between the legs and the boots, and the arms and the gloves. There were no gaps when I did a smooth test in Maya. I even tucked the verts in further to account for "shrinkage" LOL... love that Seinfeld word.

But seriously, can anyone tell me what to do? I'm sure this is a common problem with a standard solution, but I have no idea what that is. Thanks a bunch.
