dude excelent job on the proportion/curvature/ and weighting on the torso and legs very nice base, i think your arms are a little long/beefy, could be the angle tho, post more plz!
I was on a break from 3d for a while, just came back and started to work on the texture for this character .
No information about the character. im just experimenting with 3d anime. i was trying to achieve something else with this character but i like the way it came up so i decided to finish it after all.
will post some more angles and texture progress soon .
The arms are still an issue; not only are they still fairly thick, but too long, even from a stylistic standpoint. The elbows should come closer to her body. I am too tired to do any sort of detailed suggestion but if you don't mind, here is my basic opinion:
Also, I love the face in 3/4 view but it's sort of disturbing from the front. Could just be the lighting on it, makes her look incredibly uncanny valley.
ive played with the hands and attached some different angles as well
also, for the head, i scaled it a bit on the x axis and attached different angles so you can have a look
and let me know what you think... thanks a lot for the crits and comments...
Im not trying to get an anime style face like the reference links that you posted.
Im trying to get something more like Dead or alive characters look, In between anime and realistic.
Either way what i have now is not what im looking for so ive redrawn my reference material after looking at some models similar to the dead or alive games and thats what i have so far...
as you can see ive decided to take the polycount on the face a bit up.
i like it so far but the thing is that i dont really know if its going to match the body
Well im still working on the new head but i reckon that im going to use it for my next character that would be more suitable to the new head. ive decided to finisih the new head anyway and i tried to play with the old shape. tell me what you think ?, its not anime but i think that this style is cute. still i feel like something is wrong when i look at the front view.
I'd say the eyes are too far back, or perhaps the forehead/bridge of nose is too far forward. In the Dead or Alive character above, the inner corner of her eye approximately lines up moving straight down the face with the outer corner of her nose. In your model, this proportion is quite distant. From the front, the shadows formed by this large backwards drop make the nose appear heavily outlined and troll-like, in turn making the V-shaped bridge appear unnatural. Maybe you could try bringing the eyes forward in the head, and lessening the span of her upper nose there. The hair is also fairly large, vertically, for this head - or the face is too small - either way, it's good to keep basic realistic facial proportions in check: eyes halfway from top of skull to bottom of chin, distanced horizontally about the width of the nostrils, and the like. Even in anime, many of these basic proportions are adhered to, with the exception of feature size for stylistic exaggeration.
here's what Vrav is talking about, notice how far forward the eye really is compared to yours. The position of your eyes make them look very sunken hollow and somewhat aged. Definitely not what anime and DoA is about in terms of style/presentation of the age of characters.
The other thing I'd like to mention is that the shape of the eye is very important to preserve if you want to keep remotely an anime-ish look. You might have them too wide at the outside corners.
The size of your eyeball could be contributing to the need to have the inside corner so sunken, if that's the case, you're starting to run into the problems of 3d anime... the size of the eyes stylistically is an issue that needs to be experimented with to achieve the desired look, but still have anatomical functionality. If that makes any sense at all.:poly142:
ive done some work on a new head, tell me what you think ? is that close to the DOA Style ?
Im trying to achieve the same look ? , do you think i should change something ?
anime characters have chronic overbite, now that I think about it
It's looking a little better, but the front of the face is looking a bit flat I think. You could pull the eyes and nose and upper lip forward just a little bit. The eye might still be a bit big (odd to say for anime) I would also point the chin more just a little to give it more of a youthful feminine look.
sir-knight
The front should be a little flat according to must of the reference material that i have.
I fixed the eyes, i think that they should be a bit smaller .
also, fixed the chin and pushed the nose and upper lip just a bit forward.
I have to say, so far the face looks MUCH better than the last iteration. Watch the transition from the cheek bones to the sides of the face and the shape of the breasts seems a bit off where they're attaching to the chest. Nice ass though. Of course, I'm not a character artist so take all of this with a grain of salt, but you're certainly progressing in the right direction. Keep it up!
I extruded the arms and legs. done some minor changes to the body structure.
Still have some work on the current shape before extruding the hands and feets.

edit: btw, is your name from this game? http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=ristar&gbv=2 - I used to play that on the sega.

Your hands seem very flat!
And about an manga charactger I will work with self illumination... your viewport shadow add some grey and it's too bad on a animation character.
Maybe more angle for the head!
Check out Flickr for statue ressource of manga character!
It will help you a little more than 2d CG.... ^_^

AFTER SOME CHANGES ON THE NOSE/MOUTH AREA

nice attention to detail on those leaves.
Thats my first high res organic model, so any crits will be great !!!
And her upper body is almost completely parallel. Curve it more with the ribcage and fatty tissue on the side of the stomach.
The most attractive part of the woman is the frontal lobe.
Still have some work on the current shape before extruding the hands and feets.
