its pretty old scool no normal maps or anything, this is a screen grab from max viewport with slight AO composited in PS and some slight color balancing
The sun rays from above and the steam from below is a nice touch. Especially since the high amount of rust makes sense with the constant heat and water flowing over it. good work
Is it a glass window that the sun is coming through? If so, then perhaps so it, by adding a sort of reflective surface on it and dirty it (as this is a grungy piece)
Or, perhaps, it's a broken window and that's why this incubation unit is so dirty and weathered? Because the outside elements go to it? Rain, snow, dust, ect, ect.
whatever it is, make it match the rest of the scene. Otherwise, i really like this environment.
I really like your color palette and the rusty feeling.
Maybe some cracks in the ceiling windows or broken windows would add to the overall athmosphere.
good point about the ceiling, it was supposed to be covered in glass at first but it just didnt look right so i opened it up, but i know what u guys mean it looks like it could use some damage or something so i'll definately add some broken glass and maybe chips in the metal also
I would suggest playing with the light beams. I felt their color is too desaturated and white, maybe try a subtle gradient of color, warm to cool. I think they were too soft and didn't match the sky. The paint chips on the large pipes around the room bother me, they make the scene very busy and if there was more rhyme and reason to the chips it would help describe the materials and form and form relationships much better. the sunlight could be causing the chipping, or heat from cracks. The paint seems to be removed in scraped patches, as if someone vandalized them or lazily attempted removing the paint.

I'd love to see it with normal maps now get on it!
The lighting is believable and well executed, but kindof uninteresting. Have you considered a darker, more dramatically lit setup?
I can imagine some really cool sci-fi backlighting to really pop the incubation unit out more, would make it a lot moodier.
The modeling and texturing is really good man, composition is quite nice too, especially in the 2nd shot.
Good work :P
The only thing that bugs me is the open ceiling. If it's a glass skylight, dirty it up and break some of them up.
