Lame: 3ds max gizmo is gone

And before you recommend it, Transform Gizmo Toggle or.. "Press X" as most of you are thinking, isn't it . The gizmo is entirely gone...

open max

import.

if that didn't fix it you still have the backup saved and i have no clue.

Hehe at first I would say LUCKY YOU! Because gizmoless transformation is indeed kindof cool. For organics it is extremely useful, someone made me a script for that a long time ago (switching to screen mode at the same time) and I still use it today.

Anyways. I would say, go to the keyboard shortcut editor and reassign the toggle gizmo fonction to whatever. It might be as simple as that?

Reset Xform?
Centered Pivot? 0,0,0?
Reopen the Scene?
Restart teh Max?

Export, Import typically tends to fix weird shit like this.

There's actually another toggle for the gizmo somewhere. In view, or viewport settings or whatever. I remember freaking out a coworker back when I was using Max for the first time, because I'd done it the non-traditional way

edit: I think this way actually removes it entirely, rather than just 'lock' it so it becomes a few red lines. SI can't check where it is right now, though

in customize > preferences under Gizmos tab theres a transform gizmo "on" check box see if it's un-ticked by chance.

or try executing this in the script editor, which does the same thing..:)

That's what X toggles.

And if you haven't already, reboot.
If that doesn't, rename 3dsmax.ini to something else (like 3dsmax.ini.bak, or just 3dsmax.bak) and see if that fixes it.

ewww, use .obj instead. .3ds is the ass cakes.
