This was made for the GameArtisans Kingdom Hearts: War mini-comp. I made Fran from FFXII but to fit into the KH universe, I made her younger (about 17) and changed up her clothing to mimic one I found in some concept art. Diffuse 512 map only and weighing in at about 2759 tris. Fun competition. I tried to match the painting style to KH as much as I could.
Nice solid job overall. Not sure if you are looking for crits...but I guess that's what this place is for right??
I'd say you could have pushed this further. By that I mean, the portions of the model could have been more exaggerated --Thick to thin--Floppy ears, thin legs, large feet and eyes---Those are characteristic of the Kingdom hearts game. Also The texture could use more pattern and intricacies to her clothing--such as some fine lines running down the dress or something more to hint at the materials that things are made of. The rendering of the shadows would benefit from a more subtle and consistent shadow that has color hue to it instead of black .Finally, I would add some more color to it overall--Give it a little more happiness.
Anyway, Not trying to be a kill joy, I think the overall piece was done skillfully- But if you felt like spending more time on it--Then those are a few things I think would be of benifit.
Tremulant - Thanks for the critique. Yeah I think the trexture could use a bit more work. This is pretty much how it looked for the contest since I was under time constraints. I do want to push it a bit further as far as her clothing and also skin tones. I'm gonna take a few days to relax on it and work on something else, then jump back in.
I always tended to think she looked like a light skinned African. I guess it's in the eye of the beholder.
The official artwork is strange like that. She's lighter in there, but in the game, her and her people are all grayish. I was just playing not long ago.

As for skin tone: Really? Pale Gray?
