I just started working in Zbrush again and was looking for some feedback on what Im doing right or wrong... Id happily settle for wrong. Im not working from any specific ref, mainly just going for the feel and adjusting based off my roommates concepts and ideas. If anyone has any tips or tricks I would appreciate those too. I think my first attempt was a bit too noodley so Im trying to block out large forms and work slower.
To start off, you picked the html code, and not the img code, use the code to include images in a post.
It looks a bit bubblely,
add another subdivide and try out other brushes to create a solid surface.
maybe some hard edges here and there to give it some more character.
Heh thanks Rens. Since it was my first post I had to wait to see which one was right, or if it showed up at all. Much appreciated. Ill bump it up another sub-d tonight and try to pick out some more detail areas.
So I didnt have a lot of time tonight to put into it but I started trying to refine a bit more. Im trying to focus on the nose and other muscle areas right now but Im finding the fine manipulation a bit challenging.
hey rens do you ahev any other recommendations for brushes? im playing with the flatten and pinch and it seems ok, but Im unsure if theyre appropriate or if its my lack of familiarity with the program still.
the ones i use most are:
standart brush (for details)
clay brush (for overal shape)
move brush (for proportions)
hold shift to smooth things out.
also try out claytubes and some others, just see what they do and try to come up with ways to apply them, or wich brush you will use for wich perpose.
biggest trick is to figure out how to lose the bubble lines.
drawing smooth/straight lines in zbrush is just as important as on paper.
i hardly use the pinch brush, kinda hate it because it spreads the space between verts in a nasty way, gives your a weird structure if you dont apply it correct.
for details is just use a standart brush with a very small radius.
all i can say for now, is to try things out, and get an idea of how it works.

i posted the img for you, and welcome
Give this a few more passes at the nose area and teeth area, they seem rather uniformed and not poping out enough , but im sure its a first pass
once you go through with more details im sure there will be a nice Orc Boy for some WAGGGGGGGGGGH
