Hey there Polycount, I was wondering what was the best way to get the most of your image. The reason I ask this is because what I tend to view on my computer is often different then when i say... look at my image from a school computer. Is there any way to twink it so i would look better online? or is that a impossibility? (digital work)

what is different and what is your goal of this thread? (if there is one) Are you talking about color differences (like CRT and LCD and quality differences) or is it more about size and proportion? or something else?

tweak your monitors gamma and colour correction.

and when you save an image in photoshop for web try using "save for web" then jpg on 75% or more

thats about all I can think of

You could use a 3rd-party hardware utility like the Spyder to calibrate your monitor. In a sense, there is no way to currently precisely optimize images for games or the web, since that would require everyone to have calibrated monitors, but at least you'll know that you're creating art in an official standard.

I've been using the Spyder for years, a habit I've retained from my days working in print. I have all the machines in my office calibrated, so art looks the same across every machine.

Also, the no-cost way to create a monitor profile would be to use Adobe Gamma to create one. You should be able to find Adobe Gamma for Windows in the Control Panel, and for OSX in System Preferences>Display.

For more on this, try the Photoshop Help docs under "Color Management>Color-managing documents for online viewing"
