Which video card to buy?

Hi,

I've recently upgraded to vista 64 and 8 gigs of ram. I'd appreciate any recommendations for a new video card to purchase. Right now I have a GeForce 8600 GT. I've been looking at the GeForce GTX 280 - if anyone has this card and can let me know how it's been for you that would be great. Or other suggestions would be cool too..

Mainly I'm lookin for something that will improve viewport speed performance in sculpting applications like Zbrush 3 or Mudbox 2009.

go for a card with a gig of vram, theres a nice 1gig 9800 gt on newegg for cheap

Just a note, unlike Mudbox, Zbrush doesn`t use the video card`s 3d acceleration its performance is dependent on CPU+RAM only (Zmapper being the exception here).

Thanks for the info vik, that explains why models seems to rotate much better in Zbrush than Mudbox for me right now.
