killingpeople - lol it is the Corinthian Capital, but it does have water flowing through and out of it...so it is a water fountain. I noticed that you are from Gilbert AZ are you currently working in the industry?
vik - no worries. Art is subjective and you are intitled to your opinion thats what make Art so great.
There should be a base mesh up soon. I am still up in the air if I am going to model out a highpoly or zbrush...dont know yet
i think doing this as a fountain can be seen as a lazy way of just reusing the top of a column you had done earlier and just putting a pool of water around it and calling it a fountain.
now im sure thats now what your doing but to anyone else who didnt see this concept might think that.
i think it would be a better idea to go with this as a column or go with a different fountain that dosnt give off the impression of just a reused mesh. I just think most people will think you took the lazy approtch of chopping off the top of a column, sticking it in a pool and calling it a fountain.
This would be true if I had this already modeled out but I don't. Plus there is no problem with reusing modular pieces in different ways it is widely used in the gaming industry. Why waste time and money remodeling something that is already there. It's not being lazy it is being smart.
@autocon, that would be true if on his website you saw a pillar object and then saw this fountain object. as long as he doesn't have a pillar with this similar/same design, it should be good.
