REALTIME WORLDS – creators of the no.1 hit game CRACKDOWN, are looking for a Character Artist to join the art team on their latest cutting edge, AAA Project – APB.

You’ll be using cutting-edge tools like Unreal and Zbrush 3 on a high-profile, next generation MMO. The role will involve the creation of 3d character and clothing assets in a huge variety of realistic styles, tuned to a unique APB look. You’ll be working from some truly inspiring character concept artwork to create incredible characters that set a new benchmark for this type of game in the industry.
Responsibilities

· Ability to consistently produce high quality models and texture work – delivering them on schedule.

· Taking direction from the Lead Character Artist to produce character artwork that is visually and functionally consistent with the rest of the game visuals.

· Work with the other members of the teams to provide balanced solutions to both technical and aesthetic related issues.

· Maintains a strong knowledge of innovative game production technologies and techniques.


Qualifications Required

· Degree or diploma from Art College in either Animation or related course.


Experience Required

· At least 2 years experience in the industry (applicants with no games experience but with portfolios of exceptional quality will also be considered.)

· Having been involved with at least 1 published next-gen game an advantage.

· Must have good experience using Photoshop and 3DS Max (Other equivalent 3D apps also acceptable.)

· Experience with Z brush and the creation of normal mapping.



Knowledge/Skills Required

· Must have a good understanding of the processes of concepts, design, modelling, normal mapping and material generation in next-gen games.

· Must have excellent traditional artistic skills – particularly with regard to knowledge of anatomy and the human form.

· Should have good experience of modelling and texturing characters – rigging characters and animation experience also beneficial.

· Must be excellent problem solver with a very good understanding of the latest games processes and art techniques.

· Must be able to convey the style, techniques, continuity and quality of art work as set by the Lead Artist.

· Must be willing to take art direction well.

· Must be organised and capable of producing work to tight production schedules.

· Should be pro-active in the solving of art-related problems for the game.

· Must be highly motivated.

· Must be a good communicator and work well within a team.

· Should ideally have an active interest in video games.
