The sources confirmed to Kotaku earlier reports that employees were locked out of their offices today in Nottingham. A meeting held later in the day ending with the closure of the independent developer, sources say.
The same happened to Rockstar Vienna guys some years ago.
Whats happening to the game-biz theese times? Gaming is a steady growing sector.
Damn, that's terrible timing. I had thought Free Rad were one of the places who would be around for a good long while... sucks that it happened right before Christmas
If any Polycounters were hit by this, Splash Damage are still looking for a few art positions down in Bromley, check out our site for info.
I'm sure we'd be very happy to have Nick as a character or concept artist

"It was initially reported Free Radical shut down on December 18, 2008, though it was later confirmed that the company had gone into administration, leaving 40 of the original 185 staff still employed"
Yes i do realise that Wiki could be a unreliable source, but they tend to get things right.
Even though the economy isn't doing well, I am surprised to hear great companies like free radical are shutting down. Isn't the game industry one of the top growing industries in the world?
Most of the places closing are because of bad business management and or bad products. But for some it just is because of the economy sucking people down. I really hope they all can get jobs again soon.

Good luck to Nick and all the ex-free radical guys, hope you find new work easily.
BTW, Nick, the concepts and models look great, Holo Gulch Hank is awesome. I'm sure you'll have no problem finding a great new gig with those skills.
