i dont know how many of you people are into the hip hop culture, rap music, or even dead rappers, but this movie looks like a good movie on its own, rather than something just for Biggie fanboys / rappers.
yea tupac is by far the greatest rapper ever, imho.
biggie does, however, have his merits. eg: his epic flow
i think a tupac movie is in the works too, not too sure.
i hope its something more like this than like resurrection
@sectaurs: i think the target market for the whole movie is the large group of biggie fans out there. they dont really need to try to make em happy. its as simple as 'no-no-no-notorious' and bam: half ur tickets sold. futuure ads might have an approach to make this more of a 'global' movie than just for the fans.
saw the movie on friday [day of release] with a couple of friends and gf
i must say, i was expecting a terrible movie which only fans would like. in all honesty, my short review may be slightly biased, but i do think that the movie was a pretty good one, and definately one of the best hip-hop based movies i've ever seen. The actors were all extremely authentic, and it felt as if they had watched countless interviews and performances to get a feel for the characters. The story is well told: there is minimal time wasted, and the pacing feels 'right.' Cinematography was also very nice, and the idea of blending in actual footage with footage for the film was a nice touch. The movie was full of good messages too, quoting famous words of both Biggie as well as Puff Daddy.
The only _real_ let down was the audience. There was no enthusiasm from any of them. My friends and i went crazy at roll credits though, rapping along side biggie for 'hypnotize.' I was there to have fun and watch a good movie, and i got everything i wanted.
12 deserved Canadian dollars to the movie.
any of you planning to catch it?
anybody already seen it?
