I don't have a lot of time on the side, but when I do, I'll work on this as much as I possibly can so if you don't see a response right away...you'll know why lol. I'll start off by tellin you what I'm aiming for and that's around the 8-12k mark for the exterior of the car and I do plan on modeling the interior as well
. If I can find enough resources for it (don't want it to come off as half hearted) Also I want to aim for game level so this probably means I won't be modeling the bottom of the car too much, just enough to give the sillouette if at the odd chance it does flip over...but then again, when does godzilla ever get flipped over?
Here's a picture of the real thing:
Here's what I have so far (I know it's not much but me posting this thread is two fold, not only do I want critique, but I need to put it on a forum and out there so I have a sense of responsibilty to finish this model...and that has mostly to do with my hectic schedule and less with me not being able to finish) I like to model important pieces in and then I usually go back and clean it up which is why you might see from time to time tris.
(I like to get the shape right and then go back and see where I can afford to clean up and move pieces, I think for cars this matters a lot because it is of the utmost importance to nail the mesh flow for a car because a rarely has hard edges and its usually just a bunch of flowing pieces each interlocking...)
(not much of a start, but hey, everyone starts somewhere right? lol)

I don't quite understand what you mean by that...the sides aren't smoothed...
I was referring to the doors, they seem to have a smoothed surface normal.
More progress please.
Yes!! Xmas break means time to work!! Havn't been able to touch it since today, so thankfully I was able to get a solid chunk done. Few areas I need to work on include:
- simplifying near the cap area on the rims.
- work on the smoothing and distribution of polys below the headlight
- curve out the corners for the tinted windows area for the front/rear windshield
- of course add in some of the missing details like: brakes/rotors/sideview
- simplify the hood, a little haphazardly thrown together
- cleanup the back bumper mesh flow
mirrors/slight headlight details/exhaust/just about everything underneath the car/wipers and whatever else I havn't listed yet...oh, the license plate!...err, the spoiler too.
I'm happy with the how much it is now for the time being and I want to create the interior with the same amount of detail, save it out, and then kick the poly count out together. Hopefully I can get a lot done before work starts up again.
Edit: Sitting at 3546 tris.
