Tell Max not to set back to Windows Basic?

3dsMax2008 x64, on a Windows Vista Machine.

By default, it switches to Windows Basic, and as such, causes issues with Photoshop stuttering.

Is there a way I can tell Max not to do this, and instead use Aero?

Or, anyone know about this issue and found a workaround? I essentially can't use PS and Max at the same time without nasty Photoshop stuttering and it's driving me insane :poly127:

As far as I know, any OGL app will make Vista drop back to it's basic theme. Could try ensuring that Max's viewports are set to render in D3D, but I dunno if that'll work (as I'm guessing you've got that set already).

Same here. It's surprising that this issue is not raised more often - this makes the two apps basically incompatible. It's been a year without a fix here.

I remember that zooming in and out of the PS canvas temporarily fixes the issue.
You could also try the latest CS4 demo (even tho the whole is slower in general so that would not help much anyways...)

Yeah, they fixed it in Max 2009, but anything before that will switch to Basic on open. Pretty annoying.
