Help Me Decide Which Game to Buy...

Ok, thread title says it all. Ton of good new releases the past couple of months and, being a family man, I have no where near enough cash for all of them. Fortunately it's my b-day soon so I do get to pick one up. Note that Left 4 Dead is NOT included because I already have it. Vote now to help me decide!

Depends on what you like and what you are looking to get out of the game.

Personally my favourites so far this season are Gears of War 2,Mirror's Edge, Fallout 3, and Fable 2. I've played all of them quite a bit and I don't think you could go wrong with any. Just decide what you are looking for.

Gears if you want a good, if short, single player and a pretty damn fun MP setup.

Fallout 3 if you never want to see the light of day again cause of one helluva SP game.

I voted for F3 if only cause it lasts longer.

Looks like Dead Space is $30 at Target for Black Friday. Gonna have to pick that up now, but I may also need to get Fallout 3 via Steam though

Dead Space and Mirror's Edge are short linear single player experiences with no multiplayer. The rest allow for a much longer bang for your buck, but it really boils down to what type of gamer you are.

Fallout 3 has a tendency to have the "ok......1 more quest" addictiveness.

Cool, that should keep me busy for a while then. Unfortunately I didn't make it to Target before Dead Space sold out, and all the stores around me that normally price match are refusing to do so this weekend :poly127:

Yeah I forgot about the Dead Space deal as well and missed it, but they offered rain checks around here.

I'd say Gears 2, and Left 4 Dead.

I usually find that Multiplayer type games have a huge spike in player at launch, and everyone is of similar skill level. Then after a few months you'll be playing against the crazy Ubar-L337 who are rolling/turning/jumping while executing a perfect headshot 99% of the time, and have all the maps completely memorized, and run for the mega-weapons (which kinda makes it not-fun).

Fallout 3 is one of my favorite games in recent memory, but you can play that game months later and still enjoy it every bit as much.

I'm plannnig on getting Dead Space and Fable 2, during that post- Christmas slowdown in releases. Possibly even a used copy.

I've played all the games on the list to varying degrees and Fable 2 is the one I'd go for. There are a lot of great gaming experiences there. You won't be disappointed with any of them (I can't really bring myself to care about Gears, but everyone else seems to like it) but for my money, Fable 2's beautiful, colourful art, humour and amazing level of polish made it my most enjoyed game of the year.

Just played EA's Dead Space at a friends house, it was very cool, we completed it together in 4.5 hours on hard mode, the games too easy but has some breathtaking views on the end level and some of the artwork (posters and stuff) reminds me of Bioshock, that kind of old fashioned but new age feel. Overall it's one of the best games I have played on the xbox, controls are tuned to perfection and the ai is really sneaky! Shame about it not being an online thing and there is no chance of a substory on completion but you can't have everything.

If you like problem solving and puzzle stuff, try "World Of Goo" as per someone's post above.

I personally like Dead Space for the thrill of being bit in the ass while the camera's behind you half the time which I really enjoyed.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Cod:WaW if you like to do the multiplayer.... The single player part of the game can be lacking but you can co-op online with friends to make it more interesting! Add the multiplayer that really never ends because of 65 levels and the ability to go presitge 10 times makes for a lot of play time.

I've played Fable 2 and while it's a beautiful game and very fun it can be beat in 10 hours or less. Sure you can still do all the side quests after you beat the game, it just isn't as rewarding. IMO :poly124:
