i have two questions:-
1) so like EVERYTHING in the environment should be present on a 512 map? sorry its my first environment, so im definitely confused
So forexample, liek my environment, i have a main object (a dumpster) and other props in the environment. So like i should have a 512 map containing the whole environment? or like i can have a seperate 128 for the dumpster ? sorry if its confusing
2) Also, would cell-shading be considered illegal if it were added in as a procedural? if we will have to go with the geomerty route ( select all faces>extrude>flip normals) wouldnt that be unfair for people as they will have to have a 400 tri character?
You can use as many textures as you want. All of your textures, combined, NEED to fit into a 512x512 square. That is for ALL of your environment. NONE of your individual textures, can be ANY LARGER than 128x128.
That means if you're using nothing but 128's, you can have 16 of them.
I'd say Cell Shading is a post process. If you want to make a 2500 poly scene, and use the other half for outlines, go ahead. But I would be very sad if you could not make something look "cartoony" without using some trick to give yourself outlines. You ONLY HAVE DIFFUSE that's what MOST cartoony looking games use, you should be able to utilize the textures and geo shapes to make what you want.
It was already brought back an additional 2 days. Low poly challenge, quick 'n dirty. If I can find the time to do 2 5000 triangle environments, you guys should be able to finish your entries no problemo.
yeah this stuff isn't like work where you HAVE to make your deadline, because this is mostly for fun (IMO). and i started later because i didn't have a teammate just yet.
Hey guys. As far as an extension goes. I'm gonna have to say no. I want to run one more mini contest before the new year as I have big plans for the year to come.
I have been crunching like a mad man as well and have no time to finish so I feel your pain.
