XBLA Real Time Strategy Game
A group is getting together to work on a 3d RTS game for the XBox platform. We need more 3d/2d artists to help produce a quality game that the XBL Community will enjoy.
The Plan
Build a fairly simple single player/multiplayer sprite game for the XBox platform. The exact idea for this game is being boiled down now, with the idea that it would be a three month project. Use this as a proving ground for a team that would build a 3d multiplayer real time strategy game for the XBox platform. Also if we do it well enough, perhaps we can gain credibility with microsoft for the production of our 3d game. We do not presently have a contract for XBLA, but hope to worm our way in there through the front door or the back door. A normal 3d game would be 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3 and last 25-45 minutes. The game would focus more on strategy than micro but would be battle-oriented.
The Details
We are unfunded (no salary). Everyone who works on the game will get a predetermined share of any potential profits. If we make money on the sprite game, up to a certain point that money would go into the 'bank' to purchase things we will need for the 3d game or pay back those that have spent their money to provide materials/services for the group. Past that point, we would split the profits. For the most part this game would be to prepare us and organize us to do the more complicated 3d rts game.
The Team
At this point we are pretty good on programmers and have some people to help us out with the business side and other areas too. While our art department is not vacant, it needs major additions. One member could participate in more than one or all of the capacities listed below. Preferably you would be interested in being a part of a team for more than one project, assuming things work out to your satisfaction.
Positions in NeedConcept / Storyboard Artists
Help create innovative ideas for the game. Also assisting the graphics team in how the game should "look". Character artists often fill this role.
Character Artists & Animators
Work with 3D programs such as Maya or 3DS Max to produce the characters and objects that make up the game.
Texture Artists
Give the skins to levels and characters. Make sure the textures are properly mapped onto the 3D objects and backgrounds in a convincing and seamless way.
2d Art
Create sprites, logos, UI graphics.
