Work i did to see if i could join a mod team. I think i got in These models are for C&C Generals but are however high poly (on purpose using Mesh smooth to show a good example)
Okay another update I lowered the poly count down to about 220 Polygons and have a textured version too. These models could be used for C&C Generals quite easily now.
Do note that the rocket is untextued because one will be used in game. (one already built in)
Comments are welcome and hope you like my work. (NOTE: Only been using 3DS MAX for about 7-8 weeks now.)
thats ugly, and thats what you need to hear i don't want to sound harsh but i would restart the whole project from the beginning.
Go look up some good tutorials on character modeling and texturing spend a few days practicing and then come back and start a new model right now this looks really bad.
I'm speaking from experience i used to do the same thing when i started working in 3d don't repeat my mistakes!
I don't know if you're perhaps counting polygons instead of triangles, but those have way too many polygons for C&C Generals.
Here are some examples of models that a friend of mine made for a Generals mod. Note that the rocket launchers all have four sides (admittedly, up to six probably wouldn't hurt) and no insides - yours has ten times the polycount, at least.
I'm also clueless as to why you're using MeshSmooth; that stuff is reserved only for when you're not making realtime assets.
Oh righty then... thanks for the comments, even they were a bit too mean lol I took the comments in much consideration and scrapped this model you see above... this is my new model..
I have become alot more "professional" in terms of the way i present my things now... i managed to get 194 Tri for this attempt, as you may see i've simplified it alot and have used ComradeJ work as a good reference on how i should create my model.
Please note i don't have a clue on how to texture well and make it so then it looks detailed... this is purely so then i can show i can model low poly Models correctly....
that should give you a propper start- but like mentioned earlier its ugly and perhaps the best advise to hear for now- that should give you a direction like reading and working with tutorials and expanding your expierence.
Um, hear anything back from the mod team by chance?
I do think that getting in on a mod would be a great place to improve on your skills, but some of the above mentioned tutorials should probably come first. The proportions on your model are too cartoony for C&C and the textures will need a lot more love. Try making several more iterations, pushing yourself a little further each time. Good luck.
I haven't heard from the Modteam just yet... were all a bit busy right now... but thanks for your comments... i'm not a great modeller just yet as you've seen... i'm still experiementing with tools.
Thanks for the tutorials by the way! Bravo! I shall give them a shot when i have some spare time..

start a tutorial like others suggested for example this one:

or
