Hello,
First, please excuse me for my approximative english, I hope everyone will understand me.
I'm trying to make a low poly character, around 1000 polygons.
My model is young Ike from Fire Emblem 10 :
http://www.path-of-radiance.info/images/dl/ike.jpg (original art)
http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/characters/images/ike/ike.jpg (Smash Bros version)
Even if adult Ike looks easier to make, I choosed the young version because there is a lot more reference images for the young one (thanks to Smash Bros).
However, as a noob, I had difficulties, so I'm looking for advices, criticisms, comments, etc.
Here is my actual work :
And my questions :
1) How should I link the limbs to the body ?
2) Can I save polygons for the limbs without making the silhouette too sharp ?
3) How should I make the shoulders and the neck, and the head ? I can't see how to proceed.
4) Same for the hands, I don't see how I can get a hand, starting with a cylinder
4) I want to animate it later, what changes should I make to make it possible ?
Thanks for your help (even if as a programmer I don't have a lot of ambition, I think this is the right place to progress
)

look around, you'll find a lot of info.
But I still wonder how to do the head and the hands
Proportions may be a bit odd, if you find something, just tell me
"read" this one, or at least just look at the little pretty pictures. see how he works throught the head and hand of his model. compare what you have done to his models topology.
But it's still interesting, thanks
Finally I redone the model, with lower specs, and it's really easier (the fewer polygons, the easier to work with ^^)
The head is still work in progress
as for the shoulder pad u could add a shell modifier. and just wondering what is the reason for the 1000 poly restriction.
