Alritghy all, I've been rigging my character for about 3 hours now, using maya's paint tool to paint the weights... but it is just not sticking. Every now and then it keeps on bugging out and killing all the weight information, which means I have to go back and re-paint... only to run into the same issue 30 minutes later.
Is there any fix to this... or should I just go over to 3d max and do it the "MANLY" way!?

Make sure if you need to delete history, use "delete non-deformer history" otherwise you will be deleting your skinCluster nodes too.
Can anyone tell me why that is though? Just so I can understand more.
non deformer history is just the other history bits like your polygonal building operations.
