Haven't tried it but it looks really basic, and I'm pretty sure the model needs to be unwrapped already. I doubt its anything but a gimmick but hopefully they'll build on it. The viewport navigation looks pretty bad and very custom, so great one more viewport to learn to navigate...
the fact that they haven't been clear yet about it gives me a bad feeling. I fear that its just as useless as the 3d primitive loading/ rendering intrduction in CS3.

its to pricey I fully agree that's why I did not even start with a trial or beta but it cought my eye since its at some point unique - and propably better executed as for example ghostPainter from cebas for 3dsmax
and besides we all love the PS layer management
