Looking for a paintover and tips

If you've got time I could use some help creating snow and better lighting.

And of course any other improvement tips would be great.

I'm not asking anyone to finish it or anything, just want to see how to go about snow and improving light/atmosphere. I know I want his foot, knee and hand to be partially in the snow and and having a hard time conveying without it looking like junk.

I don't really know alot about this, but what might work is get a picture of snow, then apply a layer mask to it (the snow in a seperate layer) and put the opacity of the snow picture layer to about 20-30%? make the layer mask all black and the snow layer's blend mode to overlay, then start painting on the layer mask (not on 100% opacity) to make some snow overlay where you want it.

Yeah, you should try other blending modes and opacity's too, try what's the best

As for the background, the most important thing is the character/thing you want to show to people, if you really make art for letting it look cool and not for concepts then you should do some more work on the background, but the most important part (in this case the character) should really pop out.
