Bought this month's Edge magazine and noticed a few of your works in the Mod scene article towards the middle of the mag.... Congrats fella
Along with a certain Rockstar Leeds game being featured... Congrats to the guys working on it for finally seeing their baby come to light

scans?
Haha, magazines seem to have a thing with not notifying modders/indies. Similar thing happened to me last year with Gaming for Windows. :P
Congrats though man, that kicks a whole lot of ass!
I recognised the pilot fella renders and there's some other concepts including a super deformed plane along with some enviro painting- iirc (sorry half asleep) there's some text to go with the images but the main article is about the mod scene as a whole and how it's viewed within the industry.
like I said, I'll get it sorted in the morning and you can get an idea of what's what
many bothans died to bring you this snapshot.
I mean, not to take away from how cool it is to see your work in a magazine, but still.
-K.
@kolby: have to take a look into the legal agreemants with moddb, thats where they definitely have the images from, but i'm quite sure we didn't give moddb the complete rights to publish it
@thomas: danke
Great work, and good to see it in a mag, but not cool on the mags part printing with out your consent.
Top notch either way , but agreeing with everyone about not atleast contacting you about being in a magazine ?
@seforin: i didn't say i don't like it's published, but asking before would have given them clean data, permission by every of the 6 people, and maybe some newer works that aren't public yet
and to the legit thingie, while i'd like that i think it's too early we already had the chance and said no, but if the offer is right i guess no one wuld have a problem with working on it in the main time :P
But year they should have asked us...
kios enemy ship looks great and would've been a nice addition to the other images.
that is credited to a jeff morris, unreal tournament producer.
someone scan this in properly, perhaps? my camera isn't exactly up to the task.
Dont get EDGE in my country.
Thanks
sorry guys, been busy today, had to also try and hunt down where my scanner is- moved back to my dad's recently so still got bits n pieces all over the house :P
Also apologies for the crap scan
You'd think if they were going to devote an entire page of their magazine to someone's project they would at least interview them and get their consent.
Its not just condescending, its making rash assumptions and being disrespectful in it...they're passively aggressively stating that Airborn isn't done yet because it doesn't have good programmers (or one good one) working on it...right... :icon15:
The publicity is good though. Made me jealous I'm not involved in the project. hehe
we started the moddb site to search for coders/scripters to support us, so it's not that wrong. I really want to read the rest of the article as none of us is "just" a hobbyist we're all professional artists working on a project, that doesn't have to be a mod at all. I don't mind it getting a bit publicity, i just fear the context isn't right. In fact i like it that it got so much space on a magazine like edge, i just liked to be informed before.
Anyway, since there's no bad press, it's good to see your stuff being shown to a bigger audience.
An opportunity for another feature/ interview to clear things up a bit.
I think they should gladly accept that.
I've had work printed without my consent or credit and have used it to my advantage by blackmailing them to do a proper feature Actually it's happened twice here in Japan.
The guys at edge should be receptive, although by and large they are slack. One of my old co-workers used to write articles for them... they never paid him. Another friend of mine did a cover and pixel work for a certain issue. They took ages to pay him only after he harassed them.
your game looks really interesting btw. Kinda like laputa meets tailspin!
However, I am willing to send out an email to the people affected such as Neox.
Sorry if there's anyone else waiting on these scans but I need to cover my arse on this. UNLESS someone can point out that I am allowed to show the said scans.
Warm Gun gets a mention with several concepts and grey box screenshots. Beyond The Red Line has a screenshot along with a little bit of info. Jeux d'Obmbres has 2 screenshots and a bit about the mod too.
please PM me if anyone NEEDS to see the scans who cannot go out and spend £4.50 on the magazine.
Cheers
Chris
and no answers from edge yet -.-
they could hardly claim you're breaking copyright laws posting here when they themselves never asked permission to publish those shots. I believe it's not the first time those shots are "published" on this website
I believe they are talking about the article feature itself, and not just Neox's work.
it's great to get exposure like that, but notsogreat when they misrepresent it and especially use without explicit permission
Nice read, not happy with all of the printed images but in the end, nice thing
so i'm proud Airbørn got one page for itself and that small note thats not too far from reality, just knowing it before would have been better

dont know how long its been there, but its the first I got chance to read it.
