cant really crit. on the model just because the texture garbles it up so much, that being said, your texture is too garbled.
I'd say scrap those flats and start again, there's just no apparent color scheme or direction here, look at some refs and I'm sure the next round will work out better
Hard to tell the geometry with the texture and no lighting, but looks like you have a good design started.
As for the texture, needs some lighting information. Your UV coordinates are all over the place unfortunately, there are a lot of seams and stretched areas. I'd try unwrapping it again, practice makes perfect and we all gotta start somewhere. If your finding yourself confused with the process of Unwrapping a 3D object into 2D space, google search for some "UW Unwrapping" tutorials.
Yeah I would definitely go back and try to make a proper unfold, if you don't know how look up some tutorials, should be a lot around. A proper UV layout will make texturing it way easier and faster. I would also try to make the texture a bit more uniform in style, it doesn't really fit together atm.
broad shapes! you need to separate the broad shapes!
work with value and color. make the base darker and the top brighter, so there's a very general value gradient accross the whole object.
take the entire tread section and separate it somehow. make it darker. i dont know. separate the barrel.
simplify everything. remove that noise texture that you've got on it for now. highlight some of the edges to make it more like metal. add a normal map to push out the pannels. work with your shaders to get this looking like steel. add a specular map!
add some metal scrapes where the turret rotates. add some grunge and dirt, oil stails, bullet marks, scrapes where the tank ran through some rubble. don't add stuff everywhere in an eaven coating, pick specific details and be clear. don't be afraid of having big empty areas with no details.

I get the idea that it's possible there's some miscommunication here. English obviously isn't his/her first language, so perhaps he didn't mean it quite that way? Nevertheless, it'd be quite a hyperactive and unfocused reply, but I just want to believe he's not the cockwipe people have him pegged for.
Wings3D has great UV tools for a beginner. It's not an excuse. I've used them. I made a video tutorial on how to properly use them for various shapes. Others can be found now most likely on video sites. Maybe you'll benefit from them. It all about cut placement. But for game art, you would do yourself a favor to use another program designed for it.
I think Wings3d actually has really good uv tools, yeah. A lot of what's commonly expected nowadays has always been in there.
Wings3d itself is a pretty good program as well, but I'd agree with Ely and say that something else would suit you better. I personally found Silo 2 to be a wonderful replacement for Wings3d, much more diverse.

Since I could only get online every weekend, and the idea of a forum still confused and frightened me, I must've posted 'How do U open Pk3 guys?' in about 5 people's separate unrelated threads.
