No offense to anyone who were involved with it... but that is NOT Halo.
Unless it's a futuristic StarWars/Japanese influenced alternate reality to the Halo universe.. or SciFi World of Warcraft with Halo elements thrown on top..
This was a prototype, and it was cancelled (in 2007 I think?). I like Halo but would be completely unexcited by a Halo MMO. And probably once it was being prototyped, people felt the same way...
Halo MMORPG would be pointless, but I can see the potential if it was a MMOFPS, like Planetside. I really like the art shown on the screenshots, though
it really looks too much like every other mmo at the moment, a Planetside kinda thing would work but another WoW Clone with levelsystem like in an RPG, not depending on real aiming skill but on your level? Please no.
Never been a Halo fan anyways, only cool thing was the Halo1 island landing mission, that rocked
I swear Halo 3 was an MMO. "Fuzzt... Chief you need to run to point A and retrieve an item, when you have it, return to point B.Then go to point A again for the hell of it, and then back to B, oh then to A again... after doing this 40 times we'll give you a mount I mean warthog"
this is true...it was canceled in '07, which is too bad all the prototype footage ive seen looked awesome, the art is from former employees that were given permission to post it. other than that, there may be some content out there that's not supposed to be, but as far as i know the majority of the art is from former employees......hopefully i wont get trouble for confirming any of that but, yeah it is true.
Is it just me, or does all that "official" concept art just look like really bad fan-art? Looks to me like they just took some stuff off any number of people's deviant art sites.
What other game franchise has the popularity to base an MMO on like Warcraft? Personally I'm all for an MMO that takes a decent chunk out of WoW's insane dominance of the genre. These screens and concepts looks pretty sweet to me, its a shame the project was canceled, the elaborations on the universe and how it would meet the MMO genre seem pretty interesting.
stylized concept art doesn't = bad concept art. I know a lot of people have a boner for realism and all, but one of the artists in particular is probably one of the more talented concept guys I've worked with to date, and I don't even typically like that kind of stuff.
And in general, prototype projects also go through many phases in look and feel.

Looks like it had a good sense of humor about it.
