Finally got some sort of a portfolio going to gather some of my stuff!
Please let me know what you think of the page and its content. Do point out any typos or other things that bother you.

Also, I was wondering if it would be a good idea to present some of the props a little more than just in their environment?
And would it be a good idea to present some 2D stuff that I'm quite happy with aswell?
Crit away!

-You just say "Game Art" I'd say make that more defined such as environments, characters, ect.
-Always try to have a down loadable version of your resume., So HR can download it and put it in there files.
As for notes on your work. as i said the final presentation of them is really nice. One thing i would work on though is how you use your texture space. For your 2 environments you are using a lot of different texture calls. Between tiling your texture page and really thinking of it's lay out you could probably get down to 2 texture pages for both of your environment shots.
For Prop display.
One of the ways I like doing it ( i use Max mostly) is to drop the prop on a plane with a matte shadow texture on it (the plane not the prop) do a basic 3 point light set up and render out the wire and the finished. Another thing to just add some flare to props is to make your own boarder in photoshop and render it on that so it has a background and so on.
Here is a quick example, id put a little more love into it, probably have the canvas turned to landscape and not portrait, you can also type in the tri count, maybe leave some space to add the textures.
hope that helps
Keep it up! work looks good over all!
Well, I'm not really sure how to pinpoint my speciality when I am still trying to figure it out So I think it will have to be Game Art until I figure out what I'm best at.
And I'll try working on my use of textures the next time I make an environment!
as for your environments. I think it d be great if you can provide different shots. plus i think you should add more lights to the Post Apocalyptic Basement because I can barely see anything.
other than that. awesome models!! keep up the good work.
From what I can see the lighting looks good.
I'll try tweaking the lights in the basement scene too.
Thanks guys!
He doesnt have any renders on his site, its all maya viewport screengrabs. AA or gloss maps doesnt work there. You can force AA from your gfx card tho.
Martin is right in what he's saying. There are no renders, they're all just screengrabs from mayas standard hardware render in the viewport. I find the results being the most crisp that way. And for gloss maps, I wish it was working in mayas viewport. Because yea, elf looks a bit wierd without the glossmap..
Aimbiz, I'll add the highpoly to the portfolio once I get back to school
Also, I was planning on showing some of the props I made for the levels since some of them do deserve a little more attention, hehe.
I'll give a shout when I've made the updates!
Thanks everyone!

I was thinking of presenting some of my props in that way. But with a small image of the texture aswell, and tri count.

if youve still got time at school its very accomplished and plenty of time to add more top quality stuff. well done
Would this lowpoly be any good in the portfolio, shep?

Otherwise as you say, I'll probably have time to add something more as things move along here in school. I just want the portfolio to be ready to be handed out for internship stuffs.
maybe a more three quarter style view of both assets together, and a couple of close-ups to show the detail of each.
The only thing that really bugs me about that environment is the font you've choosen for doors and such. It's very generic and dull. Change it It also looks like it's not really attached to the objects.
Othervise, solid work man ;D Nice light setup. Im useless myself at gettin' it moody and nice
Hehe, agreed on the doors. They need more than just a new font and paintjob ^^ Gotta redesign them. Thanks for the heads up karera!
U never sleep in PSQ either?
correct!
My only crit for you really is work more on your texturing. I think right now a lot of the texture's flaws are being hidden by the darkness of your scenes, and even though the scenes look great, the fact that you can still push your textures is still there.
One thing I really do love is your lighting, and as Sheperio said... they seem to be sharing the same "theme" (maybe work on some variations for your next scenes? show you can work with colour as well), your scenes still have a nice gloomy atmospheric feel to them, and that's what people want
As I said before, very inspirational (I've added your portfolio to my bookmarks) and I look forward to seeing you're progression... no doubt a job is on the way for you, that's for sure
looks like you got some issues with the texture placement on the walkway there.. some stretching or something
or not bother, you could get away with it, if you change the view
Thanks Jackd Up
I'm about to get some more things up on the site in a near future. Only problem is that time never seems to be enough :P
