My partner in crime and I have teamed up to tackle this challenge. We chose Concept 4 and decided to give it a gothic/steampunk twist. From the looks of it, we've started kind of late. But better late than never! Here is a super quick sketch of some ideas we got tonight. There is plenty more to come! We want to do something dealing with steam powering some kind of structure. We were thinking maybe a lighthouse or perhaps some kind of processing plant. Lots more conceptage to do

The cabaret itself is known as "The Redrüm Cabaret". Now that I think about it, we should probably make one of the rooms red with lighting or something. There's more assets in the environment that aren't in the concept pics, namely some lightposts and the flywheel, bah. Anyhoo, here's the small update:

Depending on how much we get done, we're planning on adding more floors and addons to the house like in the concept, but we don't want to get too ambitious. Only time will tell.

As for the evil side of things, we were shooting for the spooky look, which im afraid wasnt portrayed at all in the concept (im not that good of a concept artist :P). But in the final shot, we'll rely on the lighting to portray that spooky theme, if everything goes according to plan. More content to come.

Still working on placement on some of the props and coming up with new and exciting things to throw in and jack up the poly count. d00k is workin on a low poly fountain so that should show up in the center here pretty soon. I'm going to start piping up the scene a bit once i get some other things ironed out.

this was my first time doing normal mapping and my first time really putting together an actual environment, so even if we dont finish (which we will, /confidence), we've learned a heap of things about our respective 3d apps (mine being Maya and bent's being Max), the workflow of normal mapping, and the value of the almighty hour.
