In reality, the black hole would not sit in one spot like that though. It would either sink to the center of the earth before consuming it, or it's velocity would fling it into space, where it would then consume the earth `ala Unicron style.
Sweet link, Brome. I loaded it up and initially thought... This is a bit boring when I noticed the nudge in the feed and then the lights. Then thought, this could be interesting. HAHA! Once the black hole thing appeared, it was really quite obvious I was duped.
My art lead was making a big deal about how interested he was in the progress of the tests, so I'll be sure to get him with it.
...this got me though, the house I live has a slight tremmor which vibrates through the room where the comp is when the aircon kicks in and has a slight rumble,

Too bad congress pulled the plug on the Superconducting Super Collider in the 1970's. If they had finished it we would have already unlocked these mysteries and then some. Since it was going to be much more powerful then this current one.
Anyone read the book Angles and Demons? It's by the same guy that wrote the Davinci Code. It was a fun read and dealt with CERN, their collider & anti matter.

And it's currently in production for a movie. I wonder if they will bill it as a sequel or a prequel to The Da Vinci Code. (it's a prequel in case anyone wonders).
And the whole joke about the world blowing up is basically anyone with a sound and reasonable mind knows it won't blow the world up. But extremists, and I'm talking the religious kind want to keep that non-zero probability alive in hopes they can win some people over to the church. Among other things.
