IKE...looks like he may pay us a visit. Hoping he ends up far south of us, someplace free from dense population. Would rather be on the southern most side...but that isn't looking like much of an option at the moment.
Good luck! Hope you make it through ok. Hopefully it won't pick up any more speed. This morning they where saying if it does it might make category 3-4. One hell of a hurricane season this is turning out to be.
Nothing quite like seeing your small city...(or the small town only 20 miles away that you grew up in (aka Port Lavaca, Tx) on national news. In any event, my wife and I will likely be riding this one out rather than heading up to Killeen to stay with my sister and her family. I think the Houston area will be getting most of IKE's fury. We aren't letting our guard down though. If it doesn't keep going north, we're out'a here.
Thank you Ged. God always brings good about...even in the hardest of times. My prayer is that this thing fizzles out quickly. It is a tough choice for us to stay...especially with our 2 year old. But sometimes running can be as bad or worse than staying. Since we are likely to be on the south side of this thing...we shouldn't have the worst of it. But we're staying alert. We've got lots of kin in the Houston area...so our prayers go out to them and all those affected.
We are still under a voluntary evacuation. We almost left last night...then earlier today. I'll be watching this thing until around 2:00am. If it stops the northward swing...then we'll be ready to go.
