bit of a ramble while I psych myself up to do some work (been a long day)
My idea is based around an ancient 'temple' of Iron Monks, who worshipped a religion of building and forging metal, a bit like the hammerites in thief. The religion died out, but their mighty temple of iron and stone was well constructed and outlasted them by a century (or two)
Enter: the age of technology!
Advances in the science of Electro-Summonetics have lead to a breakthrough.. The long forgotten dark magics of Summoning have been methodically examined and broken down into mathematical theorem, and one particular black-budget funded military operation has set itself towards converting theory into practice.
Searching for the perfect spot, the military scientists begin tracking ley-lines and mapping any points of interest. One particular sweep identifies the highest convergance of ley-lines yet recorded- and a reconnesance team is sent out immediately...
Who'd have thunk it, turns out those Monks built their tower smack dab ontop of the convergance. Co-incidence? I think not! And what's more, the series of pipes that intermingle with the temples foundations are found to resonate with the areas natural power and draw it up towards the temple courtyard. Some surmise this power may have been used to forge mystical enchanted artifacts..
The scientists sieze this oportunity, and begin at once to retrofit the tower with their equipment....
Dig it, great shapes. Some of them remind me of the front of the It's a Small World ride at Disneyland, which isn't a bad thing at all. I like the little sewage drains on the base as well. Looking forward to seeing it evil-ized.
no update tbh, ive done a little more but I have to say I'm really struggling to get off the ground here. im stumped why tbh. anyone got some good suggestions how you get out of a rut? times ticking fast but i just cant seem to get into the groove..
ok, the only way i could get back to work on this was hitting the drawing board again. pushing the gothic architecture a bit more, still got to add the tech, losing time etc etc. gotta do what it takes!
Hmmm... needs evil. I'll just suggest some 'obvious' eveeel features without changing your concept too much:
The building lacks 'style', not that it looks bad, just a bit bland? I personally think going uber gothic with it in terms of doorways and windows would change things drastically. I'm not saying lose the slightly steampunk stuff, just add it into the mix.
Could do with some interesting sources for possible evil style lights. I would suggest maybe some smelting furnaces somewhere amongst the chimneys, so you can cast some orangey red hues across your central deck. Or perhaps give the fort a 'moat' of some kind - emitting some menacing glows that really contrast against your building.
Keep pushing through it, you've got some good stuff goin on, I wanna see some models! XD
I liked the smoke stack shapes better in the first concept, but I like the circular platfrom design now and it's contrast to the squareness of the building.
btw the type of evil i'll be going for is more.. implied. like a picture of an atomic bomb. its not all glowy red stuff- you just get a cold and disturbing feeling from looking at the methodical construction of something designed to kill lots and lots of people. with a polycount smiley thrown in somewhere

TO BE CONTINUED!
Looking forward to seeing more!
ok here's roughly how the iron monk temple looked before the 'renovations'
How high off the ground is it going to be, Just qurious if its going to be only sky in the background or is there going to be land.
Good start looking forward to seeing more.
I want out the rut and into the groove!

Smelting ref - looks cool methinks.
Just suggestions, discard as required
thanks for the comments though I will address them!

I initially thought your techy pentagram generator things were robots laying prostrate in a circle, perhaps summoning some kind of evil robot demon.
