hi, is my second post here.
i decieded to create a small limited env scene like diablo 3 because i like the new styl in the gameplay video :-) cant wait to play this third part of the game.
the aim wasnt a 100% copy or create hundreds of assets only a few key elments to build a small part of this styl. if i delete all faces which are showing to the bottom i can save maybe 1500 ~ tris more.
hope you like it was funny to create, created only colorm aps no bumps no spec maps because i think didnt see bump maps in the orginal d3 spec maps iam not sure.
the torch and candle fire are added in photoshop, no particle system build

thanks to all this is a great feedback :-)
yes i forgot some details to tell yes ok:
the textures are handpainted + a bit foto structures to get the complete look.
the greenish look comes from the light setup because i explored the shots of the blizzard and to me all stone elements in this castle setting are nearly gray with blue and a bit green but mostly gray. so what i have done is set some point lights, 3 directional lights in 3ds max because i adjusted the global light to green not white so now your complete scene is green. the point lights with blue, yellow, orange give the setting the final look.
for example my stone texture for the ground
and my texture for the table
so you see "normal textures" if i can say so :-)
eh...i think blizzards wow is complete handpainted and in diablo 3 70% handpainted and 30% structures of real walls and wood so i don't know but i have done it like this way.

Also I like that you didn't go with the "necromancers choice" of colouring.
- yes i see it same way "only desaturated" isnt the answer for a new diablo 3 design and after a lot of criticts to the color full design of the new game to blizzard i think all fans of the game buy it no matters color full or desaturated...but only if you ask me
here it comes shadows are deeper
old version
planning on doing an homage to one of the outside areas maybe?
thx, oh good question, don't know maybe...depends on the "real projects workload, if not to busy i build one in my sparetime.:)
Really like this piece. I would have to agree with Perna though. I think the shadows should be a little bit darker. I'm not knocking the Diablo 3 art style as i think it rocks, but looking at your piece the lighting looks a bit too uniform to me. At first i didn't even notice the shadow of the table because it blends in so well with the tiles. I think there is just a tad too much ambient lighting. Right now it looks more like a ruin by night instead of a catacomb that's underground.
Overall REALLY well done though. what's the overall tri count on this scene?
edit: didn't notice the updated pic. think i was looking at the old one. shadows do look quite a bit better now.
thanks to all comments again 8)
