Nice one, flysoup. I'm most likely choosing the same concept and its really interesting seeing it take a completely different direction to where I was thinking. Solid stuff.

Thanks! Here's a tiny update with a few of the repeating props:
They're not proportional to eachother in the picture and I haven't added any details to them yet. The pillars and columns will be getting some sort of relief pattern. I'm going to try using the Nvidia plug-in for those, since it's not going to be that deep.
I'll be entering solo. I'm going to make the whole scene encapsulated within a roughly cylindrical boundary, like a level in a 3d fighting game or an area set up for a boss battle or ambush in a third-person brawler. I'm going to block the scene out next before I continue with the props.
