Yeah I checked it out and it is definitely good. I think that when it starts getting plugins and it is out of the beta period it will definitely be my web browser if it isn't already.
yeah I got it earlier today at work. I like the look and feel of it, however I think I'm going to stick with firefox until it's further along. I do like how the main bar can work as the search bar though I prefer firefox's easy switching between which engine you are actually searching.
I really love google and can see myself using this in the future, after more stuff has been ironed out and more features added. If they get extensions in then it will certainly be for the win.
whoa my shit musta glitched out, when I first checked the thread brome was the topic creator and also the first post. now it's bitmap and I must be trippin.
I won't totally switch until I can switch to the IE rendering engine when I need to, and I also need an Ad Block Plus type functionality ... until then - FF3.
I really like the simple interface, it just feels more spacious (even though it barely is). First thing I noticed that made me sad was there doesn't seem to be support for clicking the middle mouse and toggling to free scrolling .
The speed seems to be the exact same on my end when trying a bunch of websites basically simultaneously. I'm sure they'll polish this off to be one killer browser in the end either way though.
firefox 3 and opera are more than enough browsers for me, thanks. Google has some good apps. Others, it's just like, why bother?
Because next to Firefox, IE has zero competition. Opera is the next largest browser and it has a tiny following even compared to Firefox. Google sees room to grow If they do it right (obviously not this first release), they'll succeed.
I like the browser. Solid for a first try. I'm sure it will certainly improve. The bookmark organization annoys me, as does that lack of click-wheel panning. But otherwise a nice start.
Haha absolutely bounch, you gotta have scrolling your wheel at a short distance or scrolling while reading jumps too much and is distracting, and use the middle click to quickly pan through these damn threads... I've done it like 20 times since I've gotten this sucker!
Safari is better if you look after a simple browser!
Opera is fast fast and with too many features, mail and bittorrent included ¬¬
Where is the all-in-one browser? huh?
Extensions are a need, and i also want to block ads with adblock plus! fail google! I wrote my impressions about the beta in my blog, but in spanish of course :P. Anyways, i will say the points i dislike from this beta browser. It's good but it has a long way to go. To be as fast as safari is not all i need.
-no spellchecker.
-no full-screen option.
-no extensions or widgets.
-no options for RSS
-no mail client integrated as in Opera.
-no integrated Bittorrent client as in Opera.
-no chat.
-no skins and themes.
-Unable to customize the toolbar navigation as in Firefox.
-Not much configuration options. What u see is what u have... ¬¬ u can't change anything.
-The blank page is not like the Speed Dial in Opera, displays only the most commonly viewed pages in miniatures. FAIL!
-It is not effective against spam and ads. Ad-Block plus functions are a need nowadays.
-To have too many tabs is a huge problem because it consumes a lot of resources. Chrome treats each tab as a separate process so it gains speed, but in contrast, you can not have opened so many tabs. FAIL!!!
-In order to access the favourites or bookmarks you always must have markers on. Problematic!!
-The administration of markers is very ridiculous, slow and too simple, rather than in IE.
-There are no options for letters smoothing as in Safari. Webkit, where are you?
Like almost all google products... it will be in beta phase for a long time, don't worry :poly136:.
Extensions are a need, and i also want to block ads with adblock plus! fail google!
Since Google make all their money via advertising, I fail to see how thy have failed by not putting an ad blocker in their software. Surely no ad blocker = Win Google?
"Opera is fast fast and with too many features, mail and bittorrent included ¬¬

Right.
Anyway, give this thing extensions and I'm all over it like a cheap suit. Did anyone check out the promotional comic they did for this? It explains the techy side of it in layman's terms.
edit: actually, blaizer, you really are quite whiny, you know?
Your lolspeak FAIL's irritate the shit out of me, for one, as does the general whiny nature of your post.
it's definitely the fastest browser i've used on my pentium II 233mhz, faster than so-called "fast" Opera and even Seamonkey. 486 and Pentium testing pending.
Anyway, to those who've installed it: read the eula. Seriously.
Everything you send/post/type/whatever belongs to Google
Bit of an odd clause for a eula, don't you think?
11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights you already hold in Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. This license is for the sole purpose of enabling Google to display, distribute and promote the Services and may be revoked for certain Services as defined in the Additional Terms of those Services.
11.2 You agree that this license includes a right for Google to make such Content available to other companies, organizations or individuals with whom Google has relationships for the provision of syndicated services, and to use such Content in connection with the provision of those services.
11.3 You understand that Google, in performing the required technical steps to provide the Services to our users, may (a) transmit or distribute your Content over various public networks and in various media; and (b) make such changes to your Content as are necessary to conform and adapt that Content to the technical requirements of connecting networks, devices, services or media. You agree that this license shall permit Google to take these actions.
11.4 You confirm and warrant to Google that you have all the rights, power and authority necessary to grant the above license.
these whole eula thingies are always somewhat strange to me, i believe they aren't even legally binding over here in germany - so i don’t care too much about it. Maybe somewhat naive of me i guess.
Just d-loaded it as well and am playing around with it at home. I've already had some weird shit happen with Firefox 3.0, so decided to play with this for a bit. Overall not bad. I like the tabs better than firefox. Stuff does seem to go faster.
I really really like the idea of being able to close crashed tabs though. That shit always drove me nuts in Firefox. The "most frequently used pages" when you click the new window is pretty sick too.
So when can i get auto translate to preferred language in my browser? I rather figured that this would have that as they make a great translator that can figure out what language its translating on its own. Oh even better would be a auto short hand translator... BRB to be rite back, and kthx to ok thanks that would be sweet!
Anyone tested to have more than 20 tabs opened? each tab as a process may not be a success.
Because is a browser is very normal to ask for what we do now with Firefox/Opera. Is a tiny browser and still beta, and lacks of all what i said if in Google pretends to make the all-in-one browser. Am i very demanding? maybe
3ds Max doesn't make waffles too .
Hey perna, if you are looking for waffles, ask for "gofres" . It's not a food with much success here, but there are some shops offering those sweets.
Anyone tested to have more than 20 tabs opened? each tab as a process may not be a success.
I think it's that way because if one tab crashes, then the other tabs don't go with it. Unlike FF or IE or Opera where if you go to a page that crashes your browser, you can lose all those 20 tabs you have open
east: I think ie has an option to set each tab to a seperate process?
I haven't used IE regularly since IE4 back in the day, so I wouldn't know
Tried it for a few hours now, and it seems all right. I can add mouse gestures with StrokeIt, so that should be fine, but I normally rely a lot on the middle-mouse-scrolling, which is sorely lacking.
Waiting until the Linux version is ready
I tried the IE8 beta at work the other day and I have to say, it's pretty quick and nice so far. I'll give Chrome a chance when I get back to work on Monday, but based on what I've heard so far, it may not be worth it yet. It sounds like Safari when it first came out for Windows.
I'm really liking what i see so far, but i've gotten so used to my mouse gestures in firefox that i probably won't make the jump. (draw a straight line with right mouse button up and you open a new tab etc.)
EDIT: oh, didn't read the previous post about StrokeIt

Holy shit is it minimal. It loads pages pretty darn fast as well.
Thoughts?
I really love google and can see myself using this in the future, after more stuff has been ironed out and more features added. If they get extensions in then it will certainly be for the win.
whoa my shit musta glitched out, when I first checked the thread brome was the topic creator and also the first post. now it's bitmap and I must be trippin.
edit: guess I gotta read the rest first
And only half loads images
Its odd
Bitmap was actually first by 3 minutes, so it's his thread now.
Personally I won't bother with it until there's mouse gestures, a download manager, and extension/script support. Greasemonkey is awesome.
FAIL!!!
But until there's mouse gestures/rocker, way more customisation/options and a download manager that allows "Open with...", I'm sticking with Opera.
Oh, and yet another browser that will require hacked CSS workarounds for correct rendering. *Yay.*
The speed seems to be the exact same on my end when trying a bunch of websites basically simultaneously. I'm sure they'll polish this off to be one killer browser in the end either way though.
I don't like that i cant drag with my middle mouse button...
Bookmarks, don't like windows start button style browsing method,
I have a lot of bookmarks <_<
Its fast , im sure they will make it better, i like it .. thumbs up

now it needs a java vm!

a javascript vm yes, but not a full working java VM. it doesn't even use the machine's installed java vm either.
Why whiny? because i gave too many bad points i disliked? or due to my casual tone of talk? does this make me totally whiny? :S
Don't be so picky man with what i wrote :P, if i have some features i use everyday, it's very normal to ask at least the same. I'm not a conformist.
Uninstall Chrome and read the message hehehe
Google earns a lot of money with ads . If all users blocks all kind of ads = no win.

Can't wait for addons and plugins to get workin
Have to wait for the rest of the functionality to roll in before I fully commit.
