Another ridiculously basic problem, for some reason my 3dsmax manipulator where u can drag along the axis to move/scale/rotate has vanished and I can't seem to get it back.
Replaced by something much more dull and hard to use
I think they bunged up the default hotkeys for 3dsmax just to have a laugh at their users. I think everyone has had that happen to them at one point or another.
What I wouldn't give for some Silo type attention... Maybe someday.
It's actually really useful when you select the axis in which you want to lock your "move" in, then press X to lock this axis and spacebar to lock your selection.
i'm guessing it's a throwback to early versions of max when you didn't have such a thing. Makes people feel more at home
now if only Adobe would learn from the need for old school familiarity, and add a button press to get brush blending modes on the right-click, PS CS3 would be a work of unbridled genius

my favorite is making the vertexes smaller... so small that you can't see them (seems to happen anyways when the computer goes to sleepmode and wakes up... damn verts disappear.

That was fixed in Max 2009 by the way.... It bugged the heck out of me, too.

Like I mentioned before...
Mostly used in a "snapping" workflow.
O X and spacebar are a pain in the ass tho.
